commissioners of Vanderburgh County are planning to replace an existing bridge carrying Broadway Avenue over Branch of Bayou Creek using local funds only. Based on the preliminary plans provided by SJCA, Inc. (SJCA), the new structure is anticipated to consist of a single span reinforced concrete slab bridge supported on deep foundation elements. The bottom of the integral bents is planned to be established near El. 373. We understand that a single row of five piles is being considered for the integral end bents. Factored pile load provided by SJCA are anticipated to be 160 kips/pile. The flowline of the creek is near El. 367, and the preliminary scour information provided on the plans indicates a Q500 low scour near El. 367. The Q100 scour is anticipated to be near El. 367 as well. The project limits extend between Sta. 1002+67 and 1004+09, Line "PR-A," for a total project length of about 140 ft. Roadway improvements consisting of widening to accommodate 3-ft wideshoulders and reconstruction of the existing pavement is planned within the project extents. Incidental construction consisting of overlay and widening of the existing pavement is planned for an additional 140 ft and 160 ft beyond the project limits. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check, cashier's check, bank treasurer's check or bank money order in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid submitted. Each bidder shall provide evidence of a Drug Testing Policy as stated in the General Instructions to Bidders No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of the bids without the expressed consent of the Vanderburgh County Commission for a period of thirty (30) days after the scheduled time of the bid opening. The Contractor receiving the award will be required to furnish a performance bond, Indiana Form 86A revised in 1947, in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the award amount, which is to remain in effect for twelve (12) months from the date of acceptance of the completed work. The Contractor will also be required to furnish a payment bond on this project. The Contractor shall list any subcontractors and the percentage of the contract to be performed by each subcontractor in the bid submittal. The Vanderburgh County Commissioners reserve the right to reject any and/or all Bids and waive any informality in the bidding. 12% participation of MBEs and 7% participation by WBEs. The work to be performed under this contract shall have a completion date of September 7, 2026 after which liquidated damages of $1000 per calendar day will be assessed.
