Site work for a water / sewer project in Gloucester, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Project Overview: To solicit bids from qualified firms to replace the service line connection and service line at 7171 George Washington Memorial Hwy. Gloucester, VA. The resulting agreements from this solicitation shall be non-exclusive. The use of the contracted firm shall be at the sole discretion of the County. Bid(5%), Performance(100%), Payment(100%), Certified Check The Project The water service line serving 7171 George Washington Memorial Highway has a leakand needsto be replaced with a newtapping saddle, corporation stop,waterservice line,tracer wire, and meter stop. It is possible that the meter box will need to be replaced as well for this project.Thisservice line is connected to a 12-inch Ductile Iron watermain that is across Route 17 in the south bound lane at the intersection to Fox First Street and Route 17. Project Objectives: o Coordinate road closures and excavation plans with all utility owners, Gloucester Public Utilities, Dominion Power,Verizon and VDOT, etc. o Obtain all required County and state permits o Enter lane closure plans into VDOT LCAMs and VA Traffic systems a minimum of a week prior to the scheduled lane closure o No watershuts off shall be allowed before 10pm for this project nor last past 4aminthemorning. o Coordinate work activities with local property owners as necessary o Provide traffic control so work can be done safely in both Fox First Street and Route17 o Preform the replacement of the existing 12-inch tapping saddle, corporation stop, 1" service line, meter stop, and 2" sleeve all with continuous tracer wire. o Install a new stainless-steel sleeve for the service line o Backfill and compact excavation, reconnect/replace all utilities, power, communications and any other utilities that may have been removed during construction, pave and stripe the road as necessary o Open to traffic ScopeofWork-Bid: 1. Contractorto visitsite and become familiarwith all existing conditions,surface features and on the ground infrastructure.ReviewwithGloucesterCountyUtilities thehistoryofthe 12-inch waterline locatedalongRoute 17andcurrentrepairsthat have been made to the pipeline. Review and understand on going traffic operations. 2. Coordinate planned construction activities with impacted utility companies includingbutnotlimitedtoDominionEnergy,VDOT,HRSD,andVerizon. 3. Prepare VDOT traffic control plans. 4. Develop plans with impacted utility companiesforthe replacement of disconnected or damaged services once the service line replacement has been completed as necessary. Payment offees/chargesfromthe utility companies and VDOTisto be included in the Base Bid Lump Sumprice. 5. Coordinate work with the local businesses that will be affected by the project. 6. Obtain allpermitsforthework. 7. ProvideGloucesterCounty shop drawingslisting proposedmaterialsforrepairs and sketches ofthe proposedwork atleasttwoweeks priorto construction. 8. Coordinate lane closure date and timingwith GloucesterCounty Utilities at least two weeks priorto closing so that lane closure notifications can be circulated with the Sherrif's office and local citizens. 9. Coordinate watershutdowns and connections with GloucesterCounty Utilities. Timing of occurrence and time limits ofthe shutdownswill be subjectto thewater system operations/demands and at the discretion ofthe GloucesterCounty Utilities Department. Water shuts offs shall not occur before 10pm nor last past 4am in the morning. 10. Maintain a clean site at all times. 11. Set up and maintain traffic control through-out the life of the project. 12. Provide allsafety equipmentto complywith allOSHAregulations. 13. Sawcutpavement, excavate andexpose existing12"tapping saddle and 1"service line connection for 7171GWMHon the existing 12-inchwatermain located atthe intersectionof Route 17andFoxFirstStreet. 14. Providedewateringasrequired. 15. Photographanddocumentfindings. 16. Bore a new 2" HDPE sleeve across Route 17 to 7171 GWMH'smeter box.Replace themeter boxifnecessary.Approximately130'inlength. 17. Replace the existing service line connectionwith newtapping saddle, corporation stop, approximately130'ofservice line, and tracerwire throughthe 2"sleeve. 18. Reconnectthenewwaterservice line tothe existingwatermeterwithanewmeter stop and possiblywithin a newmeterbox for 7171GWMHand put back into service 19. CoordinatewithGDPU to Flush nearest fire hydrantto newservice connection and run exteriorfauceton 7171GWMHfollowingputtingnewwaterline intoservice to flush new service line. 20. Replace road bedding and asphalt patching atthe intersection ofFoxFirst St and Route17to currentVDOTstandards. 21. Clean site following construction.
