Project Number: 571445 Mobilize a dredge to the Duluth-Superior channel and perform mechanical dredging within Dredge Area 3 at the Duluth Anchorage Area, Dredge Area 6 at the East Gate Basin, Dredge Area 11 at the Superior Front Channel near Barkers Island, and Dredge Area 17 at the Superior Entry between the pier and breakwater structures. The work includes optional dredging within additional areas of Dredge Area 3 at the Duluth Anchorage Area and Dredge Area 14 near the mouth of the Nemadji River. All dredged material will be mechanically transported and placed at the Erie Pier Confined Disposal Facility, where it will be washed to separate fine and coarse-grained sands from silty, poorly draining material. Separated sand must be stockpiled on site, and a sieve analysis is required for every 10,000 cubic yards to verify that the washing process is adequately separating fines. The contractor will demobilize upon completion of dredging and material placement activities.
