Capital Labs Project located in Ottawa ON will be the central portion of a hub science research project and will support science-based projects. The project includes construction of a new laboratory building of approximately 30,000 sq meters with a dedicated central utility plant to support the laboratory system and approximately 3000 sq meters consisting of two farm buildings and a guard house. The project also involves construction and installation of geothermal system and modifications to the civil infrastructure in the existing campus to serve the new construction. An overview of the scope of work for the Excavation and Site Services is as follows. Note that this is not an exhaustive list, and the full scope of work will be determined and communicated to the prequalified proponents during the tender stage. Site Preparation Temporary site fencing and silt fencing, in select areas. Clearing and grubbing of designated work areas to remove vegetation, debris, and other organic matter. Removal of topsoil across construction zones, with stockpiling for later reuse or off-site disposal as directed. Tree removal and protection works. Temporary drainage, access roads and engineered granular pads, as required. Excavation & Backfill works: Excavation and backfill for footings, foundations, and slabs on grade for multiple buildings, including a utility tunnel & a pump house. Includes rock excavation and support measures, such as rock bolts, mesh and shotcrete. Installation of rock anchors. Perimeter and under slab drainage piping to be provided. Excavation & backfill for the Geothermal well field and pipe installation. Drilling of geothermal wells and piping will be by others. o Excavation & backfill for underground services within the footprint of the buildings, such as plumbing, electrical and other services. Installation of these services will be done by others Site Services Trenching, bedding, installation and backfill for all site services: Watermain Sanitary sewer Storm sewers, culvert installations and site drainage work. Hydro-Ottawa power duct banks, Hydro Ottawa equipment manhole bases, electrical grounding around manhole bases, protective bollards, by a Hydro Ottawa qualified civil contractor Communications and low voltage duct banks. Light pole bases and installation of empty conduits with pull strings Coordination with ESA and/or Electrical Subtrade for all underground pathways including inspections and documentation.. Final Backfill, Grading and General Works. Rough and final grading of the site to match civil design elevations and slopes. Granular pavement subgrade for future permanent roads, sidewalks and other surfaces. Dewatering, including required water testing. Soil management, including stockpiling and management of excavated material on site. Removal and disposal of excess soil, as per Ontario Regulation 406/19, including all the required testing, reporting and documentation, per the regulation. Traffic management plan, including required City of Ottawa permits for road cuts and utilities. Reinstatement of existing pavement and landscaping finishes, in select areas. Indigenous Participation Plan requirements (IPP) Contribution to Indigenous initiatives will be required in all three categories mentioned below as per the project's IPP. Contribution categories are as follow: 1. Skills development & other measures. 2. Human resources. 3. Subcontracting.
