The City of Midland is soliciting sealed bids for the major modernization of three existing elevators located within Grace A. Dow Memorial Library. The selected contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to perform a full modernization of both elevators in accordance with all applicable codes, safety standards, and best industry practices. Due to the critical nature of elevator service at the library, only one elevator may be taken out of service at any given time. The successful bidder must submit a detailed phasing plan and schedule that ensures continuous vertical transportation access for residents and staff throughout the duration of the project. Special emphasis shall be placed on: Resident safety and minimizing disruptions to daily activities Control of dust, debris, and loose materials throughout all phases of work Reduction of noise levels to maintain a livable environment Prevention of water and air infiltration during all construction activities Maintenance of a clean and organized work area, both inside and outside the building All work must be performed in a professional and timely manner, in strict adherence to ADA guidelines, Michigan Building Code, ASME A17.1/CSA B44 Safety Code for Elevators, and any additional local jurisdictional requirements.
