General Requirements - Bid Deposit Required - Insurance Required Award Requirements - All or None Award The scope includes the removal of an existing Kohler generator and automatic transfer switch (ATS) located at Fire Station 3, and the installation of a new generator and ATS. b. REMOVAL OF EXISTING EQUIPMENT: i. Contractor will be responsible for the removal and proper disposal of the following: 1. Existing natural gas Kohler Model 30RZ62, 1 phase, 120/208v generator located on the South side of the fire station. 2. Kohler ATS Part No. K-164233-225, 1 phase, 240v, 225 amp located on the South side of the Fire Station. 3. The existing generator is set on the ground with no or unknown base structure. 4. The existing ATS located in the outside rear wall of the Fire Station will be removed, and any holes in block will be filled in. c. INSTALLATION OF NEW EQUIPMENT: i. Contractor shall provide a new natural gas generator with a minimum size equal to existing generator and ATS. 1. Since a brand name and model is not specified, a specification sheet will need to be attached to the bid form for both generator and ATS. ii. Generator shall be installed on a new base as required by generator manufacturer and local code. 1. Following the installation of the new generator base, the contractor will be responsible for restoring the existing grass around the generator and access to the generator. Additionally, restoration required as a result of the contractor's operations shall be considered incidental to this contract and shall be performed by the contractor at no cost to the City. This includes, but not limited to unplanned concrete repairs, building/structure repairs, sewer repairs, landscaping, signs, structures, irrigation piping and miscellaneous items or on adjacent properties, which shall be restored to a condition equal to or better than the pre-construction condition at the Facilities Manager discretion. iii. Contractor will be responsible for any modifications required for natural gas line for the new generator. iv. Contractor will be responsible for any modifications of required wiring for the generator and grounding requirements. This includes, but not limited to the need for new wiring, conduit, box and connections. v. Contractor shall install new ATS outside at rear of station and make all required connections of the ATS. vi. Contractor will install a new disconnect for ATS. vii. The Fire Department can be without power for no more than 4 hours at any time during the demo or installation. All power outages will be scheduled through the Facilities Manager a minimum of 48 hours in advance. EXTENT OF WORK: i. Provide all labor, material, permits, bonds, tools, equipment, disposal of waste materials and supervision necessary to complete the project. ii. The contractor shall be fully knowledgeable of all requirements of the contract and shall make themselves aware of all job site conditions that will affect their work. iii. The contractor shall confirm all given information and advise the building owner, prior to bid, of any conflicts that will affect their cost proposal. Bonding Requirements - Bid Bond 5 % - Performance Bond 100 % - Payment Bond 100 % A certified check or bid bond for a sum of not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the Proposal will be required with each bid. *The City reserves the right to accept or reject all or any parts of any and all bids, to waive irregularities and to award in the best interests of the City of Midland.
