Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Newark, California. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; road / highway; and road / highway.
Remove and replace existing damaged concrete sidewalks, driveways, curb and gutter, valley gutter, and wheelchair accessible curb ramps; remove roots; root prune trees; and install root barriers at various locations within the City of Newark. The City reserves the right to increase or decrease the work quantity from the project, if necessary, to stay within funding limitations at the sole discretion of the City Engineer. It is the City's intent to award the contract for this work on Thursday, July 24, 2025. The Contractor shall possess a valid Class A or C-8 California Contractors license at the time of the bid opening. The successful Bidder shall furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond. Items of work in conjunction with this project are included in the proposal. The City of Newark reserves the right to reject any or all bids, and to waive any minor informalities, irregularities and/or bid non-responsiveness that does not influence the competitive nature of the bid. The City Council will award the project, if it is awarded, to the lowest responsible Bidder as determined by the Total Bid. The Work of the Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following requirements: 1. The Description of Work is for Contractor's reference only. a. Contractors shall visit the site to confirm, analyze, and measure specific work items included in the project contract requirements prior to submitting a bid. b. Contractors are responsible for all measurements, quantities and labor required to complete the work in a thorough, professional, and complete manner per the project documents and warranty requirements. c. Contractor is responsible for all means and methods to complete the work required within these contract documents. 1) Contractor shall have minimum required experience with EPDM 30 year detailing, Metal Roof, and Skylight experience prior to submitting a proposal. d. Change orders will not be issued for material or labor included in the bid scope of work required to complete the project. 2. All staging, safety equipment and erection necessary to complete the specified restoration work shall be provided by and included in the contractor's proposal. a. Contractor shall provide a safety plan, to be approved by Owner, prior to the start of any and all work activities. b. The Contractor shall provide and submit a roof demolition and staging plan to the Owner for review and approval, prior to the start of any and all work activities. 3. The roofing contractor is responsible for verifying under-deck locations of existing conduit and piping. a. Conduit locations shall be marked on the structural deck substrate so that the contractor will avoid driving a mechanical fastener into the conduit. b. The contractor is fully responsible for repairing any damage to the existing electrical conduits or power system due to failure of the contractor to properly identify any conduits and/or equipment installed on the underside of the roof deck. 4. Contractor is responsible for the coordination of the removal of any security cameras, control panels, wall-mounted brackets, and conduits with owner or representative of owner. 5. Upon commencement of the work, it will be presumed that these Specifications and drawings, addenda and modifications are satisfactory to both the Contractor and the manufacturer in their entirety. A. A. The contractor shall furnish and install a new Standing Seam Metal Roof System to replace the existing standing seam roof assembly re-using the insulation system. Complete removal of the existing Standing seam metal roof panels are required. B. New Metal Roof Panels shall match the profile of the existing Standing Seam metal roof panel and color, attach to the structural framing members in accordance with IBC CODE and in Compliance with current ASCE - 7 requirements. A. Drain Component Repair/ Replacement: Re-use existing drain bowls and all existing drain piping components. B. Replace existing strainer domes, securement bolts, and compression rings with new steel components compatible with the existing roof drain bowls. 1. Contractor shall visit the project site and ascertain that they are aware of the scope of work required prior to commencing work. a. Contractor shall inspect the site and ascertain that any abatement is not required. b. If asbestos abatement is required, the University will contract with an abatement company and pay all costs for the existing removal of drain bowl insulation. C. If there are discrepancies between the actual field conditions and the contract documents, the contractor shall be responsible to notify the Owner and Consultant prior to the submission of contractor's bid. D. Drain Assembly: Provide new roof drain components at all locations and notify Owner/Consultant if any broken / deteriorated drain locations are observed per specifications and drawings. Provide all necessary cutting, plumbing hook-up, support bracing, and necessary drain components to complete the new drain assemblies. E. Defective Drains: If a defective drain bowl is discovered, Contractor shall immediately notify the Owner. F. Drain Bowl and drain line insulation: Contractor shall insulate underside of existing roof drain bowls to minimize condensation into the interior of the building. G. EXTREME CAUTION shall be taken during all construction activities to eliminate any construction debris from entering into the drain line and clogging the existing interior drainage piping. 1. Contractor shall provide appropriate drain plugs prior to commencing work around the drain bowls. 2. Drain plugs shall be removed daily to prevent blockage or impedance of drainage system. 3. Contractor shall be responsible for any fines assessed to the Owner due to any negligence or costs associated with cleaning of the drain lines on the part of the roofing contractor
