The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will be soliciting bids for the Upgrade Crossing Controllers (Project). Notice is hereby given that VTA is now soliciting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from bidders (Bidders) with construction expertise in installation of XP4 predictor equipment controllers for heavy rail grade crossing. Question Submission Deadline:July 17, 2025, 4:00pm. The current HXP3 predictor equipment controlling the heavy rail grade crossings along VTA's Vasona corridor is obsolete . VTA will be requesting bids to furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, services, supervision, and incidentals necessary to install new XP4 predictor equipment controlling the heavy rail grade crossings along VTA's Vasona corridor, replacing obsolete HXP3 predictors. Contract option includes replacement of obsolete event recorders on Vasona corridor's grade crossings, including VTA-operated light rail. The Work will be conducted within an operating rail yard adjacent to and within existing shop facilities. This Work will be subject to restrictions to ensure safety and the continuing operations of the yard and shop and the light rail system. On the Vasona corridor maintained by VTA, heavy rail (operated by UPRR) runs parallel to VTA light rail. The HXP3 predictor equipment for heavy rail controlling grade crossings along the corridor are obsolete and will be replaced with new XP4 predictors. The contract also replaces obsolete event recorders on Vasona line's grade crossingsincluding VTAoperated light rail. At specific locations, in addition other small upgrades are included to improve operations. The estimated cost of construction for the Project is in the range of $2,000,000.00 million to $3,000,000.00 million.
