The project is expected to be awarded on April 6.** The scope of project will consist of the following improvements: an 8 foot wide, graded, earth/gravel trail along Manila Drive, continuing through the historic site of the former Jacoba Bernal property, and terminating at the corner of Curie Drive and San Ignacio Boulevard. Foot paths consisting of two, 5 foot wide, decomposed granite trails will connect the residential sidewalk along Curie Drive to the 8 foot wide trail, and another to the corner of Curie Drive and San Ignacio Boulevard. With potential Historical and Archaeological impacts within the property, portions of the 8 foot wide trail will be raised two feet above ground level. In locations where there are raised trails, a trapezoidal cross-section will be constructed to transition to existing grades. In addition to the trail construction, other amenities include security gates, split-rail fencing, wire fencing, chain-link fencing and barricades, and relocation of the Bear Tree Monument to an area along the interior trail, closer to Bear Tree. The total length of new earth/gravel trails is 1,600 linear feet and the length of new decomposed granite trails is over 200 linear feet. Each bid must be accompanied by cash, a certified or cashier's check, or a bond in the sum of not less than 10o/o of the totalaggregate of the bid, including allAdditive and/or Alternate Bid ltems, and the checks or bond shall be made payable to the County of Santa Clara. Liquidated damages shall be assessed in the amount of $500.00 for each calendar day the work remains incomplete beyond the time limit for completion. Owner may withhold said liquidated damages from payments as such damages accrue, or, at Owner's discretion, withhold liquidated damages from any payments due or that may become due under the Contract, including retention and final payment (pursuant to California Government Code $53069.85).
