Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Austin, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
1-90 creates a barrier for pedestrians as it cuts through the north side of Austin. As bridges are improved along the corridor, we are planning to add sidewalks and trails across the bridges to connect areas that were previously cut off. One bridge planned for improvement is the Oakland Avenue West at 1-90. The plan for this bridge is to create wider shoulders for pedestrians. With this bridge project we would propose to constructed connects east from the bridge to the service road and west from the bridge to the City Limits. The estimated cost of the project is $250,000 and would be paid for via the City of Austin's tax levy through the Capital Improvement Revolving Fund ($130,000), a local grant ($120,000). The project is scheduled for construction in 2025. As of June 17, 2025, this project is included in the City's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
