The Work or this project consists of selective demolition followed by renovations to the interior and exterior of the existing Russell Nursery Building on the Tuskegee University Campus All bids will be on a lump sum basis by item and will include, but not be limited to, all labor and materials for the entire scope - (unless specifically noted otherwise). Only general contractors with five (5) years verifiable experience in general construction may bid this Work. All contracts will be with Tuskegee University. All bids in excess of $100,000.00 must be accompanied by a certified check payable to the order of Tuskegee University amounting to five percent 5% of the bid, or by a bid bond in said amount payable to same. The check must be drawn on a solvent bank or trust company, and made payable without condition. The bid bond must be that of an approved surety authorized to do business in the State of Alabama, holding certificates of authority as an acceptable surety and has an agent in the State of Alabama, located in not more than one hundred (100) miles from the City of Tuskegee, Alabama, upon whom service or process can be made. At the option of Tuskegee University, bids may be held for a period not to thirty (30) calendar days from the receipt of bids.
