The City of Newport is requesting proposals from qualified engineering consulting firms to provide professional services for the 55th Street Pump Station Mitigation Project (City Project No. 26-24015). This project involves the evaluation and development of a long-term solution for an existing sanitary sewer pump station located in the Agate Beach neighborhood. The 55th Street Wastewater Pump Station is located in the Agate Beach neighborhood of Newport, near the edge of a coastal bluff that has experienced progressive erosion. The bluff’s instability has raised long-term concerns regarding site safety, equipment access, and the vulnerability of the existing pump station to structural failure. This facility was not included in the City’s 2018 Sanitary Sewer Master Plan and has not been incorporated into prior modeling or capital planning efforts. As of January 14, 2026, design team has been awarded. Design completion expected by May 2026.
