The City of Barre, Vermont, is soliciting bids from qualified contractors for drainage improvements and the construction of an egress road at the City of Barre Public Safety Building (PSB), located at 15 Fourth Street, Barre, VT. The work includes stormwater infrastructure installation, pavement reconstruction, and site access enhancements. The Base Bid includes the following primary components: Drainage Infrastructure Installation: o Furnish and install approximately 180 linear feet of 24-inch ADS stormwater pipe. o Install two (2) new 4-foot interior diameter (ID) reinforced precast concrete structures: Catch Basin 1 (CB1) at the outlet of the existing ditch. Drainage Manhole 1 (DMH1) within the existing parking lot. o Connect CB1 to DMH1 (92 LF) and DMH1 to the existing stormwater settlement pond (88 LF). Pavement Removal and Replacement: o Saw-cut and remove pavement within the project limits. o Fine grade disturbed areas to ensure positive drainage. o Replace removed pavement with 3 inches total asphalt: 1.5 inches Type II base course ( 3/4 " aggregate). 1.5 inches Type III top course ( 1/2 " aggregate). o Strip and repave the entire small parking lot located north of the PSB. Fencing and Site Restoration: o Remove and reinstall or replace existing chain-link fencing as required. o Replace all disturbed sidewalks and curbing to original dimensions and location. o All asphalt debris may be disposed of at the City's Farwell Street site. Add Alternate #1 Scope of Work As an optional component, contractors are invited to submit pricing for the following work: Access Road Construction to North Barre School (NBS): o Construct a new 14-foot wide gravel road, approximately 140 feet in length, with 6-foot shoulders. o Road base to consist of 24 inches of crushed gravel: 18 inches coarse gravel. 6 inches fine gravel. o Place filter fabric beneath the full gravel profile. o Install a 24-inch culvert within the existing ditch before road construction. o Furnish and install a steel vehicle gate at the rear of the NBS parking lot. Completion Deadline: October 31, 2025 Materials Stormwater Pipe: ADS brand, 24" diameter, bell-and-spigot joints with rubber gasket seals. Structures: 48" ID reinforced precast concrete, 4,000 psi, with cast-in-place sumps (min. 24"). Gaskets must meet ASTM C923. Frames & Covers: o Manhole covers: 30" diameter with a 6" frame. o Catch basins: 24" square grates with minimum 6" frame height. Gravel: Must meet VAOT Standard Specification 704.05 "Crushed Gravel for Subbase." Pipe Bedding: 3/4 " clean stone, minimum 12" envelope around all pipe. Pavement: 3" total asphalt - 1.5" Type II base course, 1.5" Type III top course. Sidewalks: 5" thick, 4,000 psi concrete with wire mesh reinforcement. 8" thickness at curb cuts. ADA-compliant detectable warning plates required. Curbing: Monolithic where adjacent to sidewalks. 12" height, 6" width (tapered to 9" if not adjacent). Curb reveal to match existing or 6" where possible. Fencing: Chain-link fencing to match existing. May be reused if approved; otherwise, must be replaced at contractor's expense.
