Project Description To meet the unmet job demands of industry, Garden City Community College is seeking Architectural, Design & Engineering Services to engineer and design plans for a new building for the Construction Trades program. This building will expand and improve the education and training of students in carpentry, electrician and plumbing. The purpose of this project is to provide students usable space for up-to-date instruction, simulation, and training on the latest tools, equipment and new job procedures in both the shop and the classroom. Scope of Work Task 1 - Construction Trades Building It is specific to GCCC's mission to produce positive contributors to the economic and social well-being of society. This project will be an approximately 6,000 square foot stand alone building, which includes shop space, classroom space and bathroom facilities. This building will provide for expansion of the construction trades program and addition of new trades programs. Metal Building meeting UBC 2018 Code 60 x 1000 = 6,000 square feet Task 2 - Roles and responsibilities of architect in construction The architect will work to create a design that will meet the college's expectations. The architect will also be responsible for coordinating the contractor selection process, construction contract, and all processes regarding construction in addition to their design work. All procedures and processes must be approved by GCCC including design, bid advertisements, bid acceptance, contract approval, etc. Prequalification To be considered as eligible to submit a Proposal, Bidder must be legally licensed under applicable laws in the State of Kansas. Architect/Designer must have demonstrated prior experience in designing similar spaces. Acceptance or Rejection of Proposal GCCC will identify, through the bid process, the most qualified firm at a price that the college determines is fair and reasonable. Firms will be graded using the RFP Criteria below. In making its determination, the college will consider the value of the services to be rendered as well as the scope, complexity, estimated timeline, budget, and professional nature of the services to be provided. If the results of the ranking procedure result in a tie, the "Accuracy of Cost Estimates on Comparable Projects" criteria will be the overall deciding factor.
