Site work for a water / sewer project in Brampton, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The project site is located within Birchbank Park, along Spring Creek, near the major intersection of Dixie Road and Birchbank Road, in the City of Brampton. The area is part of the Etobicoke Creek watershed and includes critical bank stabilization efforts to protect existing infrastructure from ongoing erosion hazards. The 300 Orenda Road Bank Stabilization and Erosion Control Project focuses on two main inspection sites identified by TRCA. These sites feature a gabion basket retaining wall and concrete revetment infrastructure along the south-side bank of Spring Creek, both of which have sustained significant damage due to scouring and outflanking. Additionally, material buildup in the channel threatens to worsen the structural instability of these protective features. The project aims to address the erosion risks at these locations, ensuring the long-term stability of the creek banks and protection of nearby infrastructure. Previous inspections and monitoring, have highlighted the urgency of these repairs due to ongoing degradation following significant storm events. The project area includes the erosion sites and stretches upstream and downstream to ensure proper transitions and to mitigate further erosion hazards. Question Deadline: Fri Jul 11, 2025 4:00:00 PM (EDT) Duration in months: 3 Documents can be obtained from https://trca.bidsandtenders.ca/ This Specification shall cover all aspects of the site preparation work, including equipment mobilization and demobilization, erection and maintenance of safety fence, removal of vegetation and debris on the bank, snow clearing, access development including tree removal, and site restoration. Site preparation and restoration shall follow OPSS 490. The work to be done by the Contractor under this Specification shall include the furnishing of all superintendence, overhead, labour, materials, and all things necessary for and incidental to the satisfactory performance and completion of all work as hereinafter specified. This Specification covers the requirements for the installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary drainage, erosion and sediment control measures during construction. This Specification covers the excavating, hauling, handling, placing, shaping, compacting, trimming and grading of earth material, applying temporary cover, and the management of excavated materials. The excavation and grading shall follow OPSS.PROV 206 specifications. The Contractor shall remove and dispose of all ice, snow, and frozen material from all earth, rock or granular surfaces prior to placing fill as necessary. The Contractor shall remove and dispose of all ice, snow, and frozen material from all earth, rock or granular materials being used for backfill, creek bank/creek bank protection, or any other construction purposes as necessary. The scope of the project included the following: o Background review of the available reports and drawings; o Visual site inspection to assess the existing site conditions; o Geotechnical investigation program to assess the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions; o Slope stability analyses, erosion risk assessment and determination of Long-Term Stable Slope Crest (LTSSC); o Detailed fluvial geomorphic analysis and meander belt width delineation; o Hydraulic/hydrotechnical analysis including revision and update of available Mike2D model from TRCA. o Development of two (2) conceptual designs and comparison against the 'Do Nothing' alternative; o Carry out detailed design for the preferred remedial solution; and o Preparation of a design report and detailed design drawings for the preferred remedial option.
