Replacement of ten culverts, clean six culverts, replacement and rehabilitation of bridges and associated track work mileposts 74.14, 76.23,77.28,80.72,85.32,85.52 surface and align up to 5700 track feet The participation goals for this project shall be 15.3% for minorities and 6.9% for women. This item shall conform to the requirements of all relevant Sections of the Standard Specifications and Supplemental Specifications. This work shall consist of constructing micropiles as shown on the plans, approved working drawings, and as specified herein. The Contractor is responsible for furnishing all materials, equipment, labor, services, and supervision; and for selecting means and methods for the installation and testing of micropiles for this project. Micropiles shall consist of permanent casing sections and fully reinforced grout sections bonded with bedrock. Permanent casings shall be included as part of the micropiles and shall remain in place after grouting is complete. Temporary casings shall be installed if necessary to facilitate micropile construction and shall be removed during or after grouting. The Contractor isresponsible for drilling through obstructions encountered during pile installation. The micropiles load capacities shall be confirmed by verification and proof load testing. Testing must meet the test acceptance criteria specified herein. The bond length of the micropile may be modified by the Engineer, pending results of load testing performed as an initial part of the work. The major work to be completed in this contract includes replacement of ten culverts, cleaning of six culverts, replacement and rehabilitation of bridges and associated track work at mileposts 74.17, 76.23, 77.28, 80.72, 85.32 and 85.52, surface and align up to 5,700 track feet as instructed by the Engineer. The contractor is expected to furnish 1,087 tons of ballast. In addition, complete up to 16,120 linear feet of spot ditching, stabilize up to 300 linear feet of track bed, install up to 856 linear feet of track underdrain and clean up to 400 linear feet of ballast. The Contractor is also required to perform miscellaneous work on the Berkshire Line as directed by the Engineer which will be paid under an allowance item. Prospective bidders are required to submit all questions to the Construction Contracts Designer by 1:00 P.M. on the Thursday the week before the scheduled bid opening date.
