Site work for a civil project in Queen City, Missouri. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements. Rehabilitation of the existing Wastewater Treatment Facility, including but not limited to, sludge removal from lagoons, the stabilization of the earthen lagoon berms, pipe and manhole structure replacements, the addition of an MBBR and Ultraviolet Disinfection Equipment, and all appurtenances. The project site is located in Queen City, Missouri. The existing lagoons and cells are located north of Highway E and east of Chilly School Drive. The north Fork Salt River runs along the north side of the site. The planned improvements include constructing a new MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) basin that will be a 18 ft. by 19 ft. basin at a depth of 16 ft; constructing a UV tank structure to be installed at a depth of 6 ft.; and constructing an equipment pad with footings. A. The scope of this section defines the items included in each bid item in the Bid Schedule section of these specifications. Payment will be made based on the specified items included in the description in this section for each bid item. B. The Total Amount Bid in the Proposal shall cover all Work required by the Contract Documents. The lump sum price bid shall include all costs in connection with the proper and successful completion of the Work, including but not limited to: furnishing all materials, equipment, supplies, and appurtenances; providing all construction equipment and tools; and performing all necessary labor and supervision to fully complete the Work. All Work not specifically set forth as to the pay item or items in the Proposal shall be considered subsidiary obligations of Contractor and all costs in connection therewith shall be included in the prices bid. C. Required items of work and incidentals necessary for the satisfactory completion of the Project which are not specifically listed in the Proposal, and which are not specified in this Section to be measured or to be included in one of the items listed in the Proposal shall be considered as incidental to the work required under this contract, and all costs thereof, including Contractor's overhead costs and profit, shall be considered as included in the prices bid for the various Bid Items. The Contractor shall prepare his bid accordingly. D. Work includes furnishing all labor, equipment, tools and materials, and performing all operations required to complete the work satisfactorily, in place, as specified and as indicated on the Drawings and within the Specifications. E. Restoration is not a separate pay item but is considered to be an integral part of the work under the contract, and all contract bid prices include the cost of restoration necessitated by the work related to that bid item. Restoration is defined as follows: Any existing structures and property including, but not limited to, existing building, electrical and/or telemetry system, producing and transmitting sewerages, stormwater or potable water, culverts, driveways, lawns and ground areas, and walkways shall be restored to the same or better condition than existed prior to construction. Cleanup is an integral part of restoration. A. Perform dust control operations, in an approved manner, whenever necessary or when directed by the Engineer, even though other work on the project may be suspended. Dust control shall be generally accomplished by the use of water; however, the use of calcium chloride or other means may be used when necessary to control dust nuisance. B. Calcium chloride shall conform to AASHTO M144, Type I except the requirements for "total alkali chlorides" and other impurities shall not apply. C. Provide testing, isolation walls, or other means approved by the Engineer, to protect adjacent facilities and equipment from dust. D. Submit dust control plan for approval by the Engineer. E. Methods of controlling dust shall meet all air pollutant standards as set forth by Federal and State regulatory agencies. A. This Section specifies general administrative and procedural requirements for warranties and bonds required by the Contract Documents, including manufacturer's standard warranties on products and special warranties. B. All equipment shall be warranted against all defects in workmanship for a period of not less than one (1) year by the equipment manufacturer and Contractor. In addition the Contractor shall warrant all work for poor workmanship for a period of not less than one (1) year. All warranties shall comply with the General Conditions Section 15.08 Correction Period. A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required and demolish, modify, remove and dispose of work shown on the Drawings and as specified herein. B. Included, but not limited to, are demolition, modifications and removal of existing materials, equipment or work necessary to install the new work as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein and to connect with existing work in approved manner. C. Demolition, modifications and removals which may be specified under other Sections shall conform to requirements of this Section. D. Demolition and modifications include: 1. Removal of existing concrete slab and rubble from site as indicated in the Drawings. 2. Selective removal of existing pavement and surfaces for proposed underground services and other work. 3. Selective demolition for connection of proposed services. 4. Removal and/or modifications to existing buildings. 5. Removal and/or modifications to existing pavements. 6. Removal and/or modifications to existing underground piping. E. Blasting and the use of explosives will not be permitted for any demolition work. A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete abatement of asbestos containing materials (ACM) prior to demolition, renovation, or disturbance of the buildings, equipment, or areas in which the ACM is present. B. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to properly containerize, label, transport, and dispose of all ACM. C. Abatement and disposal of ACM shall be in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations. A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required and design, install and remove formwork for cast in place concrete as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein. B. Secure to forms as required or set for embedment as required, all miscellaneous metal items, sleeves, reglets, anchor bolts, inserts and other items furnished under other Sections and required to be cast into concrete. A. Furnish all labor, materials and equipment required, and perform all site preparation, as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein. B. Obtain all permits required for site preparation work prior to proceeding with the work. C. Provide copies of all permits to the Owner and the Owner's Representative. D. Coordinate the relocation or protection of all utilities necessary for the completion of all work for this project. A. This work shall consist of excavation of "rock" along the proposed pipelines as indicated on the Plans. The Contractor shall remove the rock materials only to such widths (see details in the Plans or Standard Drawing #1 of the "Standard Specifications") as will permit a trench to be excavated which will afford sufficient room for proper efficiency and proper construction. All excavations shall be in strict accordance with the "width of excavation" indicated in the Standard Specifications. B. Applicability of State/Local Standard Specifications and Details: The work under this Section and the applicable Contract Drawings shall comply with the standards indicated in paragraph 1.04B below, except, in case of a conflict, the requirements of these Contract Documents shall govern over the referenced standards. A. Furnish, install, operate, monitor, maintain and remove temporary dewatering and drainage systems as required to lower and maintain groundwater levels below subgrades of excavations. Prevent surface water runoff from entering or accumulating in excavations. B. Furnish the services of a licensed professional engineer registered in the state of the projects locations, to prepare dewatering and drainage system designs and submittals. C. Collect and properly dispose of all discharge water from dewatering and drainage systems in accordance with state and local requirements and permits. The water to be removed from excavations may be contaminated with materials from impacted areas and must be discharged into a sanitary sewer designated by the Owner or Owner's Representative. D. Repair damage caused by dewatering and drainage system operations. E. Remove temporary dewatering and drainage systems when no longer needed. Restore all disturbed areas. F. The subsurface conditions of the site have been evaluated. These documents will be made available to the Contractor for review. The contractor shall be prepared to dewater all excavations as required and specified. G. Furnish, install, monitor, maintain and remove groundwater observation wells as specified herein. A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required and obtain materials for filling and backfilling, grading, and miscellaneous sitework, for the uses shown on the Contract Drawings and as specified herein. B. The Owner's Representative may require the use of materials for purposes other than those indicated in other Sections. C. Applicability of State/Local Standard Specifications and Details: The work under this Section and the applicable Contract Drawings shall comply with the standards indicated in paragraph 1.04B below, except, in case of a conflict, the requirements of these Contract Documents shall govern over the referenced standards. D. This is a reference section - not all items indicated herein may be required. See also other Sections for other materials requirements in addition to those included herein. A. Provide all required construction permit application materials. B. Obtain agreements with landowners to land apply the wastewater biosolids within a scheduled time period agreed upon by the landowner, Contractor, and Owner. The Contractor is responsible for arranging the land application to occur within the overall project schedule. C. In accordance with the obtained land application of wastewater biosolids construction permit, remove all wastewater biosolids in the four lagoons at the existing treatment facilities to the extent proposed within the drawings and contract documents prior to the installation of any new wastewater process equipment. D. Provide accurate documentation required by the permit to the Owner, Engineer and MODNR to demonstrate that conditions of the permit were followed. A. Furnish all labor and materials required and install and test, complete and ready for operation, the stainless steel pipe and fittings as shown on the Drawings and as specified. B. The work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: 1. Furnishing and installing interior, above grade, stainless steel pipe, fittings, and specials with screwed, butt welded, or flanged connections. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required and install, test, complete and ready for operation all stainless steel pipe, tubing, and fittings as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein.
