The base scope includes sewer main and service lateral improvements and the additive alternate includes pavement mill and overlay. The work of this Contract is located in the Town of Westborough, Massachusetts, on Ruggles Street, Harrison Avenue, Myrtle Street, and Charles Street as shown on the Drawings. A performance bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total amount of the contract price will be required for the faithful performance of the contract as well as a payment bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total contract price, both from a surety company or surety companies qualified to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Work of the base bid includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Grading, excavating, filling, backfilling, compacting and temporary paving for pipe laying and for building sewer manholes. 2. Furnishing and installing all sewer pipes, sewer manholes, services and connections to existing sewer, with necessary appurtenances and fittings. 3. Replacement of six (6) existing water services. Water services to be replaced will be determined during construction at the direction of the Owner and Engineer and coordinated with the Contractor. 4. Replacement of two (2) existing catch basin laterals crossing the proposed sewer. Catch basin laterals to be replaced will be determined during construction at the direction of the Owner and Engineer and coordinated with the Contractor. 5. Demolition and/or abandonment and disposal of existing sewers, sewer services, manholes, and water services. 6. Replacement and restoration of disturbed pavement surfaces, curbing, utilities, shrubbery, grass, posts, signs, etc. affected by the work. 7. Performing testing of sewers and manholes and correcting all failures and/or breaks. 8. Disposing of excess material from excavation not required for fill or backfill. 9. Maintaining sewage flows during sewer construction. 10. Maintaining sedimentation and erosion control measures during construction. . The Work of Bid Alternate 1 includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Full pavement mill and overlay of the following streets: a. Ruggles Street from West Main Street to the rear entrance to the Westborough High School athletic fields. b. Harrison Avenue from Ruggles Street to School Street c. Myrtle Street from Charles Street to School Street d.
