Submit Bidders Questions via Planetbids. Deadline for questions is October 6, 2025 at 5 pm. The work in general consists of water main replacement in State Route 145 and Lake Street. The water main replacements range from 6" PVC to 12" PVC lines, gate valves, valve boxes, lateral connections, fire hydrant connections, jack and bore under UPRR, and Lake Street Bridge water main replacement. In accordance with the provisions of Section 3300 of the Public Contract, the general contractor for this project shall have a Class A California State Contractor's License issued in accordance with the provisions of the Contractor's State License Law, California Business and Professions Code, Division 5, Chapter 9, as amended. Bid security in the amount of ten (10) percent of the amount of the bid, and in the form of a bid bond issued by an admitted surety insurer licensed by the California Department of Insurance, cash, cashier's check or certified check shall accompany the bids. Bid securities shall be made in favor of the City of Madera. The work to be accomplished under this contract shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, and equipment necessary for the installation of new water mains inclusive of valves, appurtenances, water service fire hydrant reconnections, and backfilling and resurfacing, as shown on the Drawings, in conformance with the provisions in the Contract Documents, and as directed by the Engineer. Prior to construction, the Contractor shall submit a connection sequence and plan including location of Reduced Pressure Principal Backflow Prevention Devices (R.P.) for approval by the City, per City Standard Specification Section 22-9. Existing facilities shall remain in operation until the new water system is in operation. Coordination will be required with the City for temporary shut-off of existing water main pipeline system for connection of new pipeline to existing pipelines and new chlorination connection, as well as customer service reconnections. Contractor shall submit plans to City for approval for shut-off at least 10 days prior to shut-off. Hours and duration of shut-off will be limited to a maximum of 4 hours in any single day. Customers shall receive advance notice. Connections to the existing water system shall be made between 4:00am and 7:00am or on weekends
