Demolition, site work, paving, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Mattoon, Illinois. Working plans call for the addition of a fire / police facility; for the demolition of a fire / police facility; for the renovation of a fire / police facility; for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
As of September 18, 2025, bids received were rejected as they were over the budget. Project will rebid but no definite date yet. 2025 Fire Station #3 Addition. The project consists of renovating and expanding the existing fire station. A new apparatus bay and sleeping quarters will be constructed. Work also includes plumbing, ventilation, electrical, and concrete paving. Prevailing wages in accordance with Coles County is required. Bid security is required, in the form of a bid bond or certified check in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the base bid as guarantee that the bid will not be withdrawn within 30 days after the date of opening of bids, and that the successful bidder will enter into a Contract for the work awarded to them. Bid security shall be made payable to Mattoon Fire Department. Bonds are required: Both a Performance Bond and a Labor and Payment Bond are required for this project, each in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. Award of a contract is anticipated to occur on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Begin construction on Monday, August 25, 2025. The Work shall be Substantially Complete on or before Friday, January 30, 2026.
