Site work and new construction of a power facility in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut. Design plans call for the construction of a power facility; and for site work for a power facility.
A proposed hydroelectric project with a 50-metre-high dam and powerhouse would be built along the Kuugaluk River, about 60 kilometers northeast of Iqaluit. The project would be Nunavut’s first hydro energy project to be fully Inuit-owned. TIMELINE: Design is preliminary. The project is in planning and negotiation phases. Final investment decision is targeted for 2029, with construction beginning in 2030 and commissioning in 2033. Further update in late fall 2026, upon approvals.
