Renovation of a water / sewer project in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The City of Iqaluit is undertaking upgrades to the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to improve system resiliency during utility power outages through the installation of a new backup power generation system. The project includes the assessment, design, and implementation of a generator and automatic transfer switch system to support critical WTP components. The generator will be sized accordingly based on site-specific demand and integrated into the existing electrical, mechanical, and SCADA infrastructure. The project aims to ensure uninterrupted operations at the WTP during power loss events and minimize operational downtime. TIMELINE: Request for proposal seeking a design consultant service has been issued by the owner. Further update in late fall 2025, upon award.
