A lump-sum bid shall be submitted on forms supplied as part of the proposed contract documents. Bid shall cover: A. The Public Works Facility, including: 1. General, Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical Construction Work Each bid shall be accompanied in a sealed envelope by either: (1) a certified check, or a cashier's check drawn on an Iowa bank, or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount of 5% of bid amount; or (2) a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount of 5% of bid amount; or (3) a bid bond executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the penal sum of 5% of bid amount. Each bid shall be accompanied in a sealed envelope by either: (1) a certified check, or a cashier's check drawn on an Iowa bank, or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount of 5% of bid amount; or (2) a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount of 5% of bid amount; or (3) a bid bond executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the penal sum of 5% of bid amount. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price guaranteeing faithful performance of the contract and guaranteeing payment to all persons supplying labor and/or materials in the execution of the work provided for in the contract. Work on said project shall commence within ten (10) days of the date of the contract or written notice to proceed and shall be completed by the date indicated by the contractor on the Bid Form, but in no event later than October 31, 2026. Liquidated damages in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per consecutive calendar day will be assessed for each day the work remains uncompleted after the completion date of October 31, 2026. The City Council of Huxley, Iowa reserves the right to reject any or all bids received or to waive informalities and irregularities and reserves the right to consider the responsibility of the Bidder. The City of Huxley may defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days, pending necessary details.
