Last Date for Questions: July 24, 2025 The Town of Norwell is soliciting bids for the provision and installation of a diesel generator system to provide backup power for Norwell Public Safety Complex, 300 Washington St. Norwell, MA 02061. This includes all materials, equipment, labor, and services as detailed below. The generator must be sized appropriately to support the entire building's electrical load, based on a load calculation conforming to NFPA 70 NEC article 220. Please note the Town currently has two generators onsite supporting the complex. One is solely for fire, one is solely for police. The new generator will replace both. Any alteration to existing concrete pad to support the new generator. The existing Onan generator will be disconnected and disposed of and the existing Kohler generator will be disconnected and relocated to the Norwell Water Department 1. Equipment Specifications o One (1) diesel generator rated for 300 kW / 375 kVA, 120/208 volts, 3-phase, 60 Hz. o The generator should include: - UL 2200 listing and labeling. - Permanent magnet alternator with strip heater. - Cooling system with a unit-mounted radiator. - Engine jacket water heater, 1500-watt, 120V. - Electronic isochronous governor. - Battery charger with auto float/equalize feature. - 24V engine starting batteries with rack and cables. - Sound enclosure meeting a noise level of 76 dB(A) at 23 feet in free-field conditions, with a 10-foot stack. - Sub-base fuel tank (minimum 24-hour capacity) with flexible fuel lines, high/low/rupture fuel sensors. - Accessories: Spill box, overfill prevention valve, ventilation, high-fuel switch, and NFPA signage. - Digital control panel meeting NFPA 110 Level 1 standards, with run relay and fault indication. - Unit-mounted main circuit breakers (various sizes up to 600 amps) with appropriate trip mechanisms. - Remote alarm annunciator and emergency stop button. - Initial charges of antifreeze and lubrication oil. - Minimum five-year warranty. 2. Automatic Transfer Switch o One (1) automatic transfer switch rated for 400 amps, 208 volts, 3-phase, with a solid neutral, housed in a NEMA 1 enclosure. 3. Installation Services o Trenching for electrical connections o Removal and disposal of existing Onan Generator and Switchgear. o Removal and transport of existing Kohler Generator and Switchgear to Norwell Water Department Property at 365 South Street Norwell MA 02061. o Any alterations or modifications to the existing concrete pad to support new generator. o Concrete cutting and patching for conduit placement. o Crane and rigging for generator placement. o Anchoring generator to a concrete pad. o Installation of new transfer switch and connections to existing switches. o Wiring connections for power, battery charger, block heater, control wiring, and annunciator. o Functional testing, including NFPA 110 start-up. o Owner training on operation and maintenance. o Warranty and registration filing. 4. Compliance o Installation must comply with all local, state, and national codes, including NFPA standards.
