The carpet and audience chairs in City Council Chambers are original to the building and are worn and outdated. Several of the chairs are of questionable stability. Several years ago a significant upgrade was made to the carpet and furniture in all City Hall conference rooms and offices. Council Chambers was not addressed due to budget constraints. Throughout City Hall carpet squares were used due to ease of installation and ability to replace should staining occur. Update, modernize, sanitize and renovate City Hall Upstairs Public / Employee Bathrooms. Replace all tiles, ceilings, fixtures, toilets, sinks, mirrors, dispensing equipment. Add hand-free faucets, dryers, and doors. Provide for improved privacy. Meet new ADA stall standards. Update/reconfigure the City Hall basement bathrooms with new fixtures, tiles, flooring, mirrors, handsfree sinks and doors. Add shower and lockers for use by employees to accomodate pedestrian/bicycle commuters. Allows employees who workout during lunch to shower and change as well as providing an option for inspectors to clean up if subjected to unsanitary work conditions. Update and repair facade and soffits around City Hall. This project is included in the City of Portage's 2025-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of July 11, information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed.
