Renovation of a museum in Frederick, Maryland. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a museum.
This project consists of items needed for rehabilitation of the building located at 48 E Patrick St, home of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine (NMCWM). The building was built circa 1832 and purchased by the City in 1989. The NMCWM entered a lease with the City in October 1998, though it occupied the building as early as 1995, and continues to operate at the site. Systems in the building are reaching the end of operational life. The following major repairs and upgrades are necessary: As of July 12, 2025, this project is included in the City's 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
