The goal for this project is to provide a safe, high-quality, aesthetically pleasing, forward-looking, technologically and environmentally considerate parking garage structure that fits within, and advances, the Downtown Olathe environment, while maximizing net new parking spaces. The City's total project funding for the City Hall Parking Garage is currently established at $22,500,000, including the design and construction of the parking garage structure, site utilities and all related site development, bonds, insurance, and design-builder fees. Today, Olathe covers an area of approximately 60.5 square miles, with a total future growth area of approximately 90 square miles. With a population of approximately 157,000, Olathe is the second-largest city in Johnson County. No information shown herein should be construed as an approved parking garage layout or design. The City has selected the Design-Build delivery method for the design and construction of this project. This delivery method has been selected in order to achieve the following objectives: 1. To bring together design and construction firms with proven design-build experience as well as the design and construction experience and expertise required for this project to work in a collaborative, teamoriented environment to achieve the City's goals for the project successfully. 2. To accelerate the planning, design, and construction processes in order to meet the City's schedule requirement for owner occupancy. 3. To utilize the expertise and resources of the entire design and construction team during the planning and design phases to evaluate design decisions being considered and how those decisions may impact cost, quality, and schedule; to advise on constructability issues and alternate construction methods/materials that may benefit the Owner in areassuch as cost, construction efficiencies, operational efficiencies, product durability, etc.; and to utilize the expertise and resources of the entire design and construction team during the planning and design phases to provide ongoing reviews of the project scope and budget to verify the project scope and budget are in balance. 4. To provide opportunities for concurrent design and construction activities to the extent such concurrent activities are deemed appropriate and beneficial to the Owner and the project.
