Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Yorktown, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 3,300-square-foot, two-story above grade playground / park / athletic field.

A. This contract provides for the removal and replacement of approximately 660 -SF of damaged wood siding, removal and replacement of 5 damaged windowsills and painting of Burcher Cottage (approximately 3,300 - SF). 1. The building is a two-story housing unit. The structure was built circa 1887 with a single-story addition in 1950. 2. The building will not be occupied during this contract. B. The contract work includes: Base Contract Work 1. Remove and dispose of the existing damaged wood siding off site (Note: 20% of building siding needs replacement and contract will cover replacement of up to 660SF of siding replacement). Damaged siding includes all siding that shows signs of rot, splitting or water damage. 2. Replace all damaged siding with new in-kind cedar wood siding (Note: All new siding must match dimensions and design of current siding). Siding will need to be approved by park before installation. Burcher Cottage has multiple different styles of siding. 3. Hardware used for installation of siding must match current hardware. 4. Protect the building structure and contents from weather and other potentially damaging elements. 5. Caulk any area of siding where water could enter building. 6. Disposing properly of all excess materials and debris. 7. Erosion prevention and quality assurance testing. 8. Reconstruction and restoration of disturbed areas. The National Park Service, Contracting Operations East, New England Major Acquisition Buying Office, issues this Request for Proposal (RFP) for a construction requirement at Colonial National Historical Park in Yorktown, Virginia. Work will consist of furnishing all labor, supervision, materials, tools, supplies, transportation, license, certificates, permits, personal protection equipment, professional services, and equipment as required to remove and replace the damaged wood siding at the Burcher Cottage as detailed in the Statement of Work, included with the solicitation documents. The estimated magnitude of the complete requirement is between $25,000 and $100,000.
