The Yellow Lake Fire began on September 28, 2024, on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest (UWCNF). This contract involves emergency hazard tree abatement along roads used by emergency personnel, addressing threats caused by wildfire or suppression activities. Hazard trees that could impact designated travel routes on National Forest System lands will be felled to ensure firefighter and public safety. Once felled, these trees become a fuels hazard and must be decked or piled for burning by the Forest Service or removed from NFS lands. Additional services include treatment of slash/fuels, road maintenance, suppression repair rehabilitation work such as Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER), gate replacement, and noxious weed mitigation. The contract will be a firm fixed price commercial services contract awarded using a best value source selection method, with timber removal subject to agreement. The period of performance is from the date of award through November 4, 2025.
