Renovation of an educational facility in Lexington, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Construction on RCHS started in 1990 and the building opened in 1992. The building has only had minor upgrades over the last 30 years. The lone exception is the replacement of all roof top units which occurred in 2019. The building is in need of a major renovation. An A & E study was recently completed. Recommendations from the study include spaces to accommodate new learning environment theories, open spaces for improved learning and security, refinishing all spaces, upgrade electrical systems, and consider safety upgrades in the entire building. As of June 10, 2026, this project is included in the County's 2026-2032 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Further information regarding a design firm has not yet been made available. Funding is allotted for FY 2029. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
