Site work and paving for a civil project in Lewiston, New York. Working plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED WORK. The Niagara Falls Storage Site (NFSS) is a 191-acre property that occupies a portion of the former Lake Ontario Ordnance Works located in the Town of Lewiston, Niagara County, New York. Radioactive residues, wastes, and debris resulting from activities of the Manhattan Engineer District and its successor, the Atomic Energy Commission, were placed into the Interim Waste Containment Structure (IWCS), a 10-acre engineered structure on the west side of the NFSS property. The USACE has a requirement under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program to remediate the IWCS at the NFSS. The proposed work involves removing and replacing the existing site entrance road and upgrading incoming site utilities. The existing site entrance road, located at the Campbell Street permanent easement and right of way, facilitates the movement of goods, services, and personnel to NFSS. Constructed more than twenty years ago, the entrance road requires upgrades for users' safety, ease of transportation, and to accommodate increased vehicle traffic to and from the site. Under or beside the surface, the entrance road also supports water, natural gas, power, and telecommunications infrastructure which are also in need of upgrades to accommodate future remediation activities. The work includes demolition of the existing site entrance road, construction of an upgraded site entrance road, including laying of new subbase and concrete, as well as installing upgraded overhead electrical utilities, installing upgraded underground natural gas utilities, installing upgraded underground water utilities, and incidental related work. TYPE OF CONTRACT. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo District is preparing an Invitation for Bid (IFB) solicitation with the intent of awarding one (1) FirmFixed-Price (FFP) contract. The estimated magnitude of the work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000, in accordance with FAR 36.204. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
