Site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Wharton, Texas. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The Commissioners' Court of Wharton County, Texas, will accept a sealed bid for a bridge construction project Descriptive Summary of the Work: Replacing a 4 culvert system with a free span bridge. Identification: DRAW @ CR 107 Wharton County Commissioners Court reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids, to waive all formalities on bidding and act in the best interest of the County. Bids submitted must be sealed and clearly marked "Draw @ CR 107", on the outside of envelope. Required supplemental information according to specifications, shall be included. Point of contact will be Wharton County Commissioner Precinct 1, Richard Zahn @ 979-532-1991. A. DIMENSIONS: 1. The bridge deck shall be 35 feet x 28 feet. See engineer drawings B. LOADING: 1. Design load bearing capacity ofsoil under footingsistaken from information shown on the soiltestreportsfurnished by Owner to the Contractor, or by field tests made on foundation excavation by the Contractor. 2. The load carrying capacity shall include the following: a. Dead load weight of the bridge. b. Forces imposed laterally by wind and other natural elements. c. Impact considerations. d. Live load imposed by vehicular traffic (to match H-2O Highway loading). e. Provisions to suit temperature changes. MISCELLANEOUS A. SANDBLASTING - Where existing steelshapes are used,sandblast metal to SSPC-SP 10, near white metal, using #4 sand. Remove all visible oil, grease, dirt, dust, millscale, rust, paint, oxides, corrosion products, and other foreign matter. Primer coat shall be applied the same day the sandblasting is done. B. PAINTING - Exposed metal surfaces shall be painted with Inorganic Zinc Primer, Sherwin Williams Zinc Clad 1 (or equal) in accordance with directions and supervision of the Commissioner. C. EXISTING BRIDGE - Contractor shall dismantle existing bridge and stack old bridge materials on side of bridge approach. County shall be responsible for disposal of old bridge materials. D. EXCAVATION - Contractor to provide all excavation necessary to install new bridge. Excavated material not used for backfill shall be removed from site by the County. E. BACKFILL - If extra backfill is necessary, County shall provide suitable backfill material. F. CREEK CHANNEL - Contractor will excavate channel of creek at bridge area only. If rip rap is necessary in channel, the County shall provide and install rip rap.
