As of April 10, 2026, the short list of contractors has been announced, however, the bids are still under review. The award is still pending at this time. A construction start date has not been announced. The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners (the "County") is soliciting a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) pursuant to Section 287.057, Florida Statutes for general construction services for the construction of a medical examiner facility with a morgue for the Medical Examiner of the 19th Judicial Circuit. Construction of a new ODME 19 facility and related site improvements at a real property site located in St. Lucie County, Florida. The site shall be laid out as a secure, 24-hour, multi-building campus compound with public parking, staff parking, law enforcement parking, secure vehicle access, loading dock, mobile cooler staging with convenient access to major roads, and facility shall accommodate future growth. The new ODME 19 facility shall include autopsy suite, laboratory, morgue, separate decomposition morgue, evidence, records, offices, reception, lobby, break room, shower rooms, restrooms, locker rooms, meeting rooms. The facility shall also include secure separation of public areas, law enforcement areas, medical examiner staff areas, intake, staging, transport and storage. The facility shall include safety shower/ eye wash, biohazard material storage cooler, biohazard material storage freezer, covered loading dock, surface parking, razor wire fencing and electronic sliding secure vehicle gates. The facility may include a logistics room, dormitory rooms, debriefing room, classroom and news media room. The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to waive any informalities or minor irregularities; reject any and all bids which are incomplete, conditional, obscure, or which contain additions not allowed for; accept or reject any bid in whole or in part with or without cause; and accept the bid which best serves the County.
