Renovation of a water / sewer project in Quincy, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The work includes, but is not limited to: replacement of fire pump #3 and its associated fire pump controller and appurtenances at the Nut Island Headworks Facility in Quincy, MA. Under this project the Contractor will furnish, install, connect, and test a pump new fire and the associated fire pump controller. Filed Sub-Bids will be required on the following classes of work: Division Sub-trades 16 Electrical Work Each General Bid must be accompanied by a current Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) showing that the bidder has the classification and capacity rating to perform the Work and an Update Statement. In order to be eligible to bid, a General Bidder must be certified in either of the following categories of work: GENERAL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PUMPING STATIONS Each Filed Sub-Bid must be accompanied by a current Certificate of Eligibility issued by DCAMM showing that the Sub-Bidder has been certified to participate on public construction projects and perform the class of work for which the Sub-Bid is submitted. Each Filed Sub-Bid must also be accompanied with an Update Statement. This contract is subject to a N/A% MBE and a N/A% WBE participation requirement. Question Deadline 08/06/2025 at 4:00 PM ET protection system from a nearby hydrant. 5. Demolish and remove the existing Fire Pump #3 grout leveling pad. Provide a new grout leveling pad below Fire Pump #3 and provide anchor bolts necessary to secure the new Fire Pump #3. In the pump well, remove the existing pump support bracket and install a new pump bracket. 6. Demolition work and removal of existing Fire Pump #3 and installation of new Fire Pump #3 is required to be performed inside the water storage tank located below floor level of the fire pump room. This area is considered a confined space. 7. Furnish and install a new Fire Pump #3 pump and motor assembly. Contractor shall provide all new nuts, bolts and hardware as recommended by the pump manufacturer for installation of the pump motor to the pump and assembly and installation of the fire pump. Fire Pump #3 shall be ordered from the factory completely assembled by the factory. It shall be shipped as one unit from the factory, with exception of the motor attachment. When onsite, the pump column will need to be taken apart at three locations and reassembled inside the wet well of the pump room. There is not sufficient clearance to hoist the fully assembled fire pump into the wet well. 8. Furnish all materials, equipment, tools, and labor necessary to install the new Fire Pump #3, Fire Pump #3 Motor, Fire Pump #3 Controller, and all related appurtenances. 9. Provide temporary piping configuration connected to existing piping at the pump, to test the newly installed pump and pump controller. Refer to testing specification Section 01465, Section 15300, and Section 16925. Coordinate all final acceptance tests with the Authority, the Contractor's Fire Protection Engineer, MWRA's Insurance Representative, and the Quincy Fire Department. 10. Handle and dispose of excess materials in accordance with Section 01046. B. The Electrical Subcontract major work items include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Remove and dispose of the existing Fire Pump #3 Controller and enclosure. a. All equipment lock out/tag out, testing and operation of equipment shall be coordinated with the Authority. b. Disable signal from both existing fire pump controllers, Fire Pump #3 and Fire Pump #4 controllers, to the emergency power generator. Coordinate with the Authority to shut off, lock out/tag out main disconnect to each controller. Return breaker to ON when water is in tank and Fire Pump #3 and Fire Pump #4 can be restored to operational status c. Coordinate with the Authority to have Authority staff shut off, lock out/tag out each fire pump's emergency power breaker in the generator room. d. Maintain the indoor substation in the fire pump building as energized so that the power panel (KA:LV.DP-2-1) may continue to supply power and lighting to the work area. 2. Remove and dispose of the existing junction box for the Fire Pump #4 Controller, preserving existing wiring for reconnection. 3. Furnish and install a new junction box for the Fire Pump #4 Controller. 4. Furnish and install a new Fire Pump #3 Controller
