The objective of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to select a vendor for the purchase and installation of playground equipment at Brown County's Reforestation Camp. The playground equipment should be of a creative design that fits with the specific park setting and offers a variety of play features. All aspects of the new structure shall meet or exceed current industry standards, including Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines, ASTM standards and International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA) certification. Brown County Parks will remove the existing structures, perform necessary excavation, and set the grade for the new equipment, as defined by the selected vendor. We are asking that the total bid include two prices. 1. For the installation of the selected equipment to include final grading and seeding of all disturbed areas. 2. Without the installation of the equipment or final grading and seeding. *Please note that the surface will be bark mulch that will be installed by the county. Location and History Brown County Park's Reforestation Camp property is located at 4418 Reforestation Road, Suamico, Wisconsin, 54313. The playground is located near the Pines Shelter building and parking lot that serves the park, shelter, and NEW Zoo that has playground equipment that is past its useful life. There are two newer pieces that include an accessible seesaw, and a sit and spin that were added to this site in recent years that we hope to incorporate (which means moving them from their current positions) into the new design. It also has a small wooden playhouse at the backside of the park that will also be retained. While this is a regional park with over 1,400 acres of parkland that includes hiking trails, horseback riding trails, mountain/snow bike trails, camping, and more, the location of this playground makes it less of a draw from regional visitors that are there for these activities and more of a picnic spot for those that are visiting the zoo. It is also a spot for elementary, middle, and intermediate school field trips that are visiting the NEW Zoo as well. Goal The goal of this new and improved play area is to create a flow between freestanding play pieces that offer creativity and movement to keep users active and moving throughout this space. It is our hope that these elements will be nature-based, such as rocks, logs, timbers, etc. to fit into the nature and woods surrounding this site. Scope of Work Freestanding Playground Equipment and Component Design Specifications The existing playground encompasses over 25,000 square feet of area, however only 7,000 square feet will be the area to designated for this project, unless more space is needed between freestanding pieces. See pictures and aerial map. The total budget for the project is $75,000 to include shipping or the proposal will be rejected. The surface is currently bark mulch and will continue to be after the new playground equipment pieces are installed.
