Site work for a civil project in Grand Lake Road, Nova Scotia. Design plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The objective of this project is to determine how to best service CBU with Municipal water, and then proceed with detailed design and construction of the best option. The project also involves an assessment of the CBU and municipal wastewater system which may result in wastewater system upgrades due to capacity limitations. The project aims to extend municipal water services to Cape Breton University (CBU) and the adjacent Tanglewood subdivision. This initiative is driven by the province's obligation to provide potable water to CBU following the relocation of the NSCC Marconi Campus, which previously supplied water to the university. While the project includes provisions for a future water connection to the Tanglewood area, it does not involve the installation of services. Rather, it enables future servicing opportunities to support potential housing development, should it proceed. TIMELINE: Planning and design work to commence shortly. Construction currently planned for fall 2026. Scope of work and project schedules may be confirmed late 2025/2026.
