Reconstruction and resurfacing of Liberty Street. This project will extend the 4 lane cross section on Liberty street with a 3 lane cross section from the existing termination point just west of County Line Road past a new public works facility to near Sartor Ln. The existing lanes will be resurfaced as a part of this project. This will utilize ST P (Surface Transportation Program) federal funds administered through KKCO M (Kane-Kendall Council of Mayors). The federal participation for the project will be 80% of construction costs, up to a maximum of $2,500,000. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will front-fund the cost of construction and invoice the city for its 20% share and beyond the federal maximum participation amount. The costs to be paid by the city are reflected below. Construction is expected to begin in 2026. As of July 23, 2025, The project is include in the City's 2025-2034 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
