Site work and paving for a civil project in Boston, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

Berkshire Line Civil Improvements The contract's scope of work includes Replace and Clean existing culverts; Replacement of Berkshire Line Bridge at Milepost 74.17, with associated approach work; Superstructure Replacement and Substructure Strengthening of Bridge No. 76.23, with associated approach work; Rehabilitation of Bridge Numbers 77.28, 80.72, 85.32 and 85.52; Surface and align track in designated areas; Furnish and install ballast for all work including surface and align; Spot ditching in designated areas; Track bed stabilization in designated areas; Install track underdrain in designated areas; Clean and replace ballast in designated areas; and Perform miscellaneous work as directed by the Engineer. All bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the amount of 5% of the value of the bid. The Project has an M/WBE participation goal of 6 % for the work performed under this contract. All prospective bidders who intend to bid on this project must submit MBTA certificates showing prequalification in the required classes of work, as well as all documentation required to apply for MassDOT Rail & Transit Division prequalification in the required classes of work, to Scott Conti at the MassDOT Rail and Transit Division by email at Scott.Conti@dot.state.ma.us and June Wu at HDR at June.Wu@hdrinc.com before 5:00 P.M. seven (7) calendar days prior to the bid opening date. The Berkshire Line is approximately 36.6 miles long and runs from Ashley Falls, MA MP 50.0 north to Pittsfield, MA MP 86.6. It is currently operated at FRA 49 CFR Part 213 Class I (10 mph freight) and Class II (25 mph freight) speeds. The Berkshire Line track structure is recently installed 136lb continuous welded rail (CWR) from approximately MP 50 to MP 72 and older jointed rail from approximately MP 72 to MP 86.6. All track is ballasted with timber crossties. The culvert improvement work to be completed in this contract includes replacement of ten existing culverts and cleaning six existing culverts. The major bridge work to be completed includes replacement and rehabilitation of bridges and associated track work at mileposts 74.17, 76.23, 77.28, 80.72, 85.32 and 85.52. Question Deadline 07/31/2025 at 1:00 PM ET Prospective bidders are required to submit all questions to the Project Designer by on the Thursday of the week before the scheduled bid opening date. Any questions received after this time will not be considered for review by the Department.
