The contractor and all subcontractors (collectively referred to as "the contractor") agree to strive to achieve minority and women workforce participation. The workforce participation benchmark is set at 6.9% for women and 15.3% for minorities. The workforce benchmark percentages are a statutory requirement under mgl c. 149 44a(2)(g). General bids and sub-bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (including all alternates), and made payable to the cape cod community college. Note: a bid deposit is not required for projects advertised under $50,000.. This project is being electronically bid and hard copy bids will not be accepted. Please review the instructions in the bid documents on how to register as an electronic bidder Question Deadline 08/08/2025 at 2:00 PM ET All bidding Requests for Information (RFIs) shall be submitted online or filed sub-bids The project consists of but not limited to: replacement of existing exterior doors at five buildings with new aluminum-framed entrances and storefronts; new fiberglass doors and frames; new door hardware; and electrical improvements. Add alternate 1 consists of door hardware and electrical improvements at two entrances to provide new automatic openers. Add alternate 2 consists of the replacement of building 11 door 3. Filed sub-bidders must be dcamm certified for the trades listed below and bidders must include a current dcamm sub-bidder certificate of eligibility and a signed dcamm Sub-bidder's update statement. The CAPE COD COMMUNITY COLLEGE, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Contractors for the Exterior Door Replacement at Buildings 4, 5, 7, 10 and 11 in West Barnstable, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by BIA.STUDIO A. Work Included: 1. Selective Demolition to be coordinated with the phasing of the Work. 2. Demolition and removal of selected portions of buildings and structures and as required for new work. Refer to the Drawings for additional requirements. 3. Salvage of existing items to be reused or turned over to the facility. 4. Removal and legal disposal of demolished materials off site. Except those items specifically designated to be relocated, reused, or turned over to the facility, all existing removed materials, items, trash and debris shall become property of the Contractor and shall be completely removed from the site and legally disposed of at their expense. Salvage value belongs to the Contractor. On-site sale of materials is not permitted. 5. Demolition and removal work shall properly prepare for alteration work and new construction to be provided under the Contract. 6. Scheduling and sequencing operations without interruption to utilities serving occupied areas. If interruption is required, obtain written permission from the utility company and the Owner A. The following is the minimum required Scope of Work associated with the removal of asbestos-containing materials in support of the building renovation project at the site under the base bid. 1. Removal and disposal of all specified asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and specified non-ACM materials as identified herein, if they will be disturbed during the project. This shall include all asbestos-containing materials identified in part 1.02(B) of this Section, and specified non-ACM where necessary to access asbestos or that is disturbed/damaged by ACM removal, such as non-asbestos flashing, caulk, etc. Contractor is responsible for any demolition necessary to access asbestos-containing materials. 2. Performance of all Asbestos Abatement work under this Section by a Contractor holding a current Massachusetts DLS Asbestos Abatement Contractor's license. 3. The Contractor is informed that certain materials may also contain polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) at regulated levels, which may have overlapping or more stringent abatement/removal requirements. See Specification Section 028433 - Removal and Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyls for more information. 4. Work area preparations, including required pre-cleaning, installation of critical barriers and polyethylene sheeting, construction of decontamination facilities, work area enclosures, sealing, isolation, and other activities as directed by the Owner or Consultant. 5. Installation and operation of HEPA filtration units sufficient to achieve a minimum of four air changes per hour in each negative-pressure containment, and according to the provisions as set forth in this Section, where required. 6. Protection of non-ACM materials and equipment inside of work areas with two layers of minimum 6-mil polyethylene sheeting. 7. Removal of all asbestos-containing materials shall be completed in negative-pressure containment(s) as specified in part 3.03 of this Section, unless exemptions exist as noted below. 8. Removal of any asbestos-containing window caulking and glazing compound may be completed in accordance with part 3.03 of this Section or, alternatively, as specified in part 3.04 of this Section at the choice of the Asbestos Abatement Contractor. 9. Removal of any asbestos-containing pipe insulation may be completed in accordance with part 3.03 of this Section, or using the Glove Bag Removal Method, as specified in part 3.05 of this Section, with the approval of the Consultant. 10. Furnishing of all labor, materials, equipment, and services required for all work included under the provisions of this Section. 11. Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as all provisions set forth within this Section, and facility requirements. 12. Decontamination and clean up following removal activities in each designated work area. Clean up shall include all visible debris from all surfaces present in the work areas. 13. Performance of any other work or activities required by this Section, applicable regulations, or as necessary to perform a complete job to the satisfaction of the Owner and Consultant. 14. Provision of temporary electrical wiring and other services as required for asbestos removal according to the provisions as set forth in this Section. 15. Performance of all selective demolition as needed to access any asbestos-containing materials potentially present within the project limits that will be disturbed by the project work. Contractor will perform all selective demolition as needed to the satisfaction of the Consultant at any locations requested by the Consultant during the project. B. Base Bid: The following table(s) list the approximate location and quantities of asbestoscontaining materials to be removed, under the Base Bid, in accordance with the provisions set forth in this Section. Given quantities are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Bidders shall not use these estimates as the only basis for their Bid. Bidders shall confirm all quantities and items using the bid drawings and during the Pre-Bid walkthrough to the extent reasonably possible. The Bidders are responsible to review and confirm all quantities and field conditions (including structural integrity of walking/working surfaces), including locations of all ACM and debris, surface area, lengths, widths, cross-sections, thickness, composition of layers, substrate composition and any attachments thereto, including glue, mastic, compounds, prior to the submission of bids. Neither the Consultant, Architect, the Commonwealth (DCAMM), nor the Owner will be responsible for errors or omissions and/or charges for extra work arising from any bidders failure to become familiar with the existing conditions of the site, requirements of the work and the results to be produced. By submitting a Bid, the Bidder further agrees that the descriptions contained herein and on the drawings (i.e., quantities, descriptions, locations, areas, thicknesses, etc.) are adequate and that the bidder will produce the required results. No claims for extra payment due to incorrect quantities will be considered. By submitting a Bid, the Bidder agrees and warrants that he is familiar with and will perform all the work required, including all items indicated herein and/or on the drawings. A. The work of this Section specifies minimum requirements for the disturbance, removal, containment, and disposal of lead-containing paint and associated waste generated as a result of renovation activities as outlined in the Specifications. B. The procedures described herein apply to all renovation work where a worker may be occupationally exposed to lead, as well as to the disposal of the renovation debris. The Contractorshall assume that any painted surface not tested, asincluded in this Section, contains lead paint and it shall be the Contractor's responsibility to protect workers performing under this Contract. This may require additional testing by the Contractor to determine lead content. C. The Contractor shall assume full responsibility and liability for compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations pertaining to work practices, hauling and disposal of hazardous waste, hauling and recycling of all metal components coated with lead-containing paint, protection of workers and visitors to the site, and persons occupying areas adjacent to the site. The Contractor shall hold the Owner, Architect, and Consultant harmless for failure to comply with any applicable work, hauling, disposal, safety, health or regulation on the part of himself, his workers or his subcontractors. A. Work Included: Provide labor, materials and equipment necessary to complete the work of this Section, including but not limited to the following: 1. Steel railings, handrails and guardrails, exterior. B. Related Work: The following items are not included in this Section and are specified under the designated Sections: 1. Section 099000 - PAINTING AND COATING for field painting work of this section. A. Work Included: Provide labor, materials and equipment necessary to complete the work of this Section, including but not limited to the following: 1. Fiberglass doors. 2. Fiberglass frames and sidelites. 3. Insulated spandrel panels. B. Related Work: The following items are not included in this Section and are specified under the designated Sections: 1. Section 087100 - DOOR HARDWARE for door hardware for steel doors. Work Included: Provide labor, materials and equipment necessary to complete the work of this Section, including but not limited to the following: 1. Vinyl graphics, field-applied A. All of the Contract Documents, including General and Supplementary conditions and Division 0 - Bidding Documents, Contract Forms and Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 - General Requirements, apply to the work in this Section. B. Carefully examine all the Contract Documents for requirements which affect the work of this Section. The exact scope of this Section cannot be determined without a thorough review of all specification sections and other Contract Documents. C. Where referred to, Standard Specifications, Recommendations of Technical Societies, and/or Manufacturer's Associations, plus Codes of Federal, State, and Local Agencies shall include all amendments current as of date of issue of these specifications. A. PCBs are presumed to be present, including at levels greater than or equal to 50 ppm, in certain building materials in pre-1980 Buildings 4, 5, 7, 10, and 11. These materials are summarized below. The Contractor shall not analyze bulk building material or soil samples for total PCBs or PCB Aroclors via standard extraction and analytical methods. Analysis for PCBs via the TCLP method only for disposal characterization purposesis allowed as outlined in sub-part 3.06(B). B. The removal and disposal of building materials containing PCBs is regulated by the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) pursuant to Code of Federal Regulations 40 CFR 761. Building materials with PCB concentrations equal to or greater than 50 ppm that are the source of the PCBs are regulated as PCB Bulk Product Waste. Building materials impacted by the PCB Bulk Product Waste with PCB concentrations equal to or greater than 1 ppm are regulated as PCB Remediation Waste as defined in 40 CFR 761.3. C. PCB Bulk Product Wastes are identified assummarized in the table below. PCB Bulk Product Waste shall be removed and disposed in accordance with 40 CFR 761.62 if they will be removed or disturbed during the Exterior Door Replacement project.
