Renovation of a municipal facility in Easton, Maryland. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
**As of October 15, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** The Town of Easton is inviting bidders to bid on providing contracting services to include work summarized as the following: Roof replacement and all associated work Minority business enterprises are encouraged to bid. The Town of Easton reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to accept any bid, or portions thereof, when in their judgment, the public will be best served. Planning and Permitting o Conduct a historical assessment to determine the original roofing materials and design. o Obtain necessary permits. Site Preparation and Safety Measures o Emplace scaffolding and fall protection systems. o Protect surrounding structures, landscaping, and historical elements from debris and damage. o Secure work zones to prevent public access and ensure worker safety. Removal of Existing Roof o Carefully remove the old cedar shingles, minimizing damage to the underlying structure. o Dispose of old materials in accordance with environmental regulations. o Inspect the roof decking for rot, insect damage, or structural issues. Repairs and Reinforcements o Replace damaged or deteriorated sections of the roof decking. o Strengthen rafters if structural integrity is compromised. Flashing and Ventilation o Installation of 16-ounce copper step and valley flashing at dormers. o Installation of 16-ounce copper drip edge. o Apply ice/water shield and "cedar breather" underlayment for added ventilation and moisture protection. Installation of New Cedar Roofing o Installation of 5/8" butt taper sawn red cedar shingles. o Install pressure-impregnated and fire-retardant treated cedar shingles to protect from decay and fire exposure and spacing for expansion. o Affix cedar using stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized ring-shank nails to prevent corrosion and to ensure longevity. o Maintain traditional installation techniques, including layered exposure and staggered seams for proper water runoff. Finishing Touches o Conduct a final inspection to ensure quality and historical accuracy. o Clean the worksite and properly dispose of debris. o Prices to include all permits (no-charge), staging, material removal and disposal, new Contract enforcement shall commence immediately upon execution of a written Work Performance Agreement and Notice to Proceed and shall cover a maximum period of one hundred eighty (180) calendar days
