The work for this contract includes the media removal and disposal, tank cleaning, supply, and installation of new media, gaskets and foam pad replacement. The H2S Removal Vessels are located adjacent to the Dewatering Building at the Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority ("Authority") Treatment Plant. Each vessel contains approximately 40,000 pounds of media utilized to remove hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from the gas produced in the Authority's anaerobic digesters. The Siloxane Vessels are located in the Cogen Building at the Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority ("Authority") Treatment Plant. Each Siloxane Vessel requires 2,200 pounds of media. The digester gas is used as a fuel to operate internal combustion engines and boilers. The media is contained in two (2) vessels located outside the Dewatering Truck Loading area (FLT 301 & FLT 302). One (1) of the two (2) vessels will remain in operation at all times. The Authority will designate which vessel or system. This contract allows for work to be done up to four (4) times in a calendar year. The H2S vessels are constructed of 304 stainless steel; dimensions are 10 ft. diameter with a 12 ft. sidewall height. There is a ladder and platform to access the 36 inch diameter top manway hatch. The vessels also have a 36 inch side manway hatch. Once this top is removed, the spent media should be removed using proper equipment and techniques as described below. The vessel is to be cleaned and the 122 inch foam pad is to be replaced with a new unit prior to the new media installation. Bidders are advised that working hours allowed for this contract are between 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Overtime or premium pay will not be charged to the Owner/Authority if the bidder is permitted to work beyond the typical eight (8) hour workday. A request for permission to work outside of the specified hours must be approved by the Authority bids must be accompanied by a bid guarantee in the form of either a certified check, cashiers check, or bid bond drawn to the order of the Authority for not less than ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, but not in excess of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000), the Authority reserves its right to reject all bids.
