Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Aurora, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

The City of Aurora is seeking qualified contractors to bid on the resurfacing of various parking lots. The project includes milling and removing the top 1.5 inches of hot mix asphalt (2 inches at curbs) and replacing with 2 inches of surface course and paint (not thermoplastic) striping to match existing markings at three parking lots locations. These lots, some of which may also require full depth (5 inch) removal and replacement (2 inches of surface course over 3 inches of binder course), 3 inch patching at select locations, and/or concrete curb and gutter/slab removal and replacement, are located at: Fox Metro Wastewater Reclamation District (682 State Route 31, Oswego) - Approximately 8,860 SY of mill and resurface and 1,240 SY of full depth removal and replacement; restriping City of Aurora Customer Service Lot (3770 McCoy Drive) - Approximately 4,260 SY of mill and resurface, removal of approximately 60 SF concrete slab in the pavement and full depth replacement with HMA, approximately 60 LF of curb and gutter replacement, approximately 430 SF of 3 inch deep patching, and restriping. City of Aurora Parking Lot C (73 S. River Street) - Approximately 2,140 SY of mill and resurface; restriping. Question Submission Deadline:August 11, 2025, 8:00am Bidders shall submit all inquiries, including requests for alternates or substitutions regarding this bid via the City's E Procurement System. PCC Curb and Gutter Removal This work shall consist of the removal of existing P.C.C. (Portland cement concrete) curb and gutter by method and materials specified in Articles 606 and 1020 of the "Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction". This work shall be paid for at the contract unit price per LINEAR FOOT (LF) for P.C.C. CURB AND GUTTER REMOVAL and shall include all labor, material, and equipment necessary for removal and disposal of all materials as specified herein. Saw cutting to full depth where construction or expansion joints are not available shall be considered incidental to this item. 3. Combination PCC Curb and Gutter This work shall consist of the installation of new combination P.C.C. (Portland cement concrete) curb and gutter as shown in the project plans by method and materials specified in Articles 606 and 1020 of the "Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction". Construction of combination P.C.C. curb and gutter shall include: 1. The placement of Class "SI", P.C.C. (Portland cement concrete) per the detail shown on the plans. 2. The placement of reinforcement per the detail shown on the plans. 3. The drilling and placement of dowel bars with grease caps into the existing adjoining concrete. 4. The placement of contraction joints, expansion joints, and construction joints per the detail and table shown on the plans. 5. The application of curing compounds for Portland cement concrete per the detail shown on the plans. 6. The backfilling of curb with material approved by the Engineer. This work shall be paid for at the contract unit price per LINEAR FOOT (LF) for COMBINATION P.C.C. CURB & GUTTER and shall include all labor, material, and equipment necessary for installation as specified herein. Saw cutting, expansion joints, asphalt materials, and pavement restoration shall be considered incidental to this item. 4. Partial Concrete Slab Removal (6" Thickness) This work shall consist of saw cutting and removing the deteriorated portions of a concrete dumpster slab located within the pavement for eventual replacement with full depth hot mix asphalt pavement. Once the slab is exposed and prior to saw cutting, the Engineer will review the condition of the slab and help establish the precise limits of removal. This work shall be paid for at the contract unit price per SQUARE YARD (SY) for PARTIAL CONCRETE SLAB REMOVAL (6" THICKNESS) and shall include all labor, material, and equipment necessary for installation as specified herein. Saw cutting shall be considered incidental to this item. 5. Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement Removal (Milling) This work shall consist of milling five (5") inches of existing asphalt pavement at areas to receive "HMA FULL-DEPTH MILLING" and an inch and a half (1.5") at areas to receive "HMA PARTIAL-DEPTH MILLING" as shown on the location diagrams and shall be performed by method and materials specified in the IDOT "Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction". This work will be paid for at the contract unit price per square yard (SY) for HMA FULL-DEPTH MILLING (5") and HMA PARTIAL-DEPTH MILLING (1.5"), which price shall include all labor and equipment to complete the pavement milling in accordance with the standard specifications and this provision. 6. Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement Binder and Surface Courses This work shall consist of the placement of a 3" layer of bituminous concrete binder course mix N50 (IL-19.0) and/or a 2" layer of bituminous concrete surface course mix N50 (IL-9.5) as shown on the location diagrams for full and partial-depth milling areas, respectively and shall be performed by method and materials specified in the IDOT "Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction". The Contractor shall stagger the longitudinal joints in the surface course to provide a minimum offset distance of six inches (6") from the joints in the binder course. Tack and prime coat RC-70 are incidental. Recycled or partially recycled mixes will not be permitted for this work. This work shall be measured and paid for at the contract unit price per TON in place for HMA BINDER COURSE (3") as well as for HMA SURFACE COURSE (2"), which price shall be payment in full for preparing and tacking the aggregate base, application of prime coat, and proper placement of bituminous mixture as specified herein and as directed by the Engineer. 7. Pavement Patching (3" Depth) This work shall include filling of hot-mix asphalt (HMA) patches with a 3-inch layer of bituminous concrete surface course mix IL-9.5) N50 in accordance with the IDOT "Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction". Following the initial partial-depth (1.5") milling at these areas and prior to HMA placement, cutting around the patch shall extend an additional 1.5" into the pavement in such a manner that squared out, straight, vertical joints will be obtained. Care shall also be taken by the Contractor so as not to damage the remaining pavement or surface directly adjacent to the pavement or surface to be removed. Any damage to the existing pavement or surface resulting from removal operations shall be repaired at the Contractor's expense, as directed by the Engineer. It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to lay out the locations for the proposed saw cuts. All saw cutting shall be considered incidental to the contract unit prices. All labor, equipment, and material necessary to complete this work shall be paid for at the contract unit price bid per SQUARE YARD for PAVEMENT PATCHING (3" DEPTH) and no additional compensation will be allowed. Although FULL DEPTH PATCHING (5") is not anticipated, unit pricing is requested as a Bid Alternate to address any location where PAVEMENT PATCHING (3" DEPTH) is deemed inadequate. 8. Pavement Markings This work shall consist of applying paint pavement markings to match the existing layout of the lot. Materials shall be paint (not thermoplastic) and shall be in accordance with the standard specifications. This work shall be paid for as a lump sum for PAVEMENT MARKINGS (STRIPING) and each (EA) for handicap PAVEMENT MARKINGS (SYMBOLS), which price shall include all labor, equipment and materials to remark the lot per the existing layout.
