Renovation of a municipal facility in Raleigh, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
This project consists of the renovation of the office area portion (25,055sf) of the existing USPFO building (79,114sf). The scope of work at the office area includes removal of hazardous materials such as asbestos and PCB containing materials, removal of existing ceiling and finishes, new floor finishes, new ceiling/finish, (including lighting, mechanical grilles, audio speakers, removal and reinstallation of fire alarm devices), paint walls and frames, new interior glazing and frames, casework, plumbing (miscellaneous base bid, renovate toilet rooms per alternates), miscellaneous new mechanical, miscellaneous electrical and communications, removal and reinstallation of existing fire alarm devices and limited installation of new fire alarm devices, new interior glazing and frames, replacement of limited door/hardware, removal, storage, and reinstallation of workstation furnishing (including disconnection and reconnection of electrical and communications), removal, storage, and reinstallation of physical fitness equipment, new building signage (base bid and alternate), and removal and infill of existing openings. Site work alternate includes tree removal, removal and replacement of a portion of existing sidewalks for purposes of grading, and new stormwater drainage. The project includes all other work as shown, indicated, or reasonably implied on the drawings and/or specifications for a complete, first-class job. The existing building (original construction and modifications) is a one-story interior and exterior load-bearing masonry/column supported by steel roof framing structure with steel deck and cementitious fiber wood deck. Note this project is subject to the "Buy American Act." Refer to 00 09 10, Special Conditions. The project proposes no change to: occupancy, number of stories, building height, building area, construction type, fire-resistance rating requirements for building elements, egress width, exit access/exits. The warehouse areas of the building are not in the work area. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. A performance bond and a payment bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 60 days. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
