Bloomingdale Shingle Roof Replacement - Removal and replacement of existing roof shingles The Road Commission Reserves the Right to Reject Any or All Bids, to Waive Irregularities in the Bidding, and to Award Thecontract in Any Manner Deemed to Be in the Best Interest of the Van Buren County Road Commission. An Equal Opportunity Employer 1. The purpose of this project is to remove (down to the substructure or deck) and replace the existing worn asphaltshingle roof with new asphaltshingle roofing in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and criteria. The selected Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, overhead, fuel, and all other direct and indirect costs necessary for a fully operational, functional roof system in accordance with the Specifications and the manufacturer's recommendations. 2. Contractorshall warrant all work performed for a period of 10 yearsfrom final completion of project. 3. Work shall be finally complete and ready for owner's acceptance by December 31, 2025. If Contractor can complete the work sooner, or cannot meet this deadline, an expected completion date for the project(s) must be provided as part of the quote. 4. Temporary cover and protection shall be maintained until work has been complete. All Contractor work shall not interrupt the Road Commission's work schedule. 5. Contractor shall perform all work in a safe manner in full legal accordance with OSHA, State, County, and local rules and regulations. 6. No materials shall be left on-site. No burning or burying of materials will be allowed onsite. 7. Contractor will inspect the work area, including any adjoining properties, after the daily work shift so as to keep the work/property area clean of any and all debris. 8. Itshall be the Contractor'sresponsibility to provide a dumpster, and to schedule for pickup and removal of same from the location to a licensed landfill. 9. Contractor shall be responsible for all costs and compliance with all laws, regulations and permitsrequired of local,state and federal governments, State of Michigan EGLE, and EPA regulations. MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS 1. An alternate bid shall be provided forthe inspection, provision and installation of new roof decking for the structure(s). Contractorshall notify the Designated Contact upon removal ofthe existing roofshingles and underlayment(s). Owner and Contractorshall inspectroof sheeting together to determine the extent of any sheeting replacement(s) necessary. Contractor shall provide a per sheet price for sheeting replacement to be utilized in this regard. For bidding purposes, estimate that replacement of 15 sheets is necessary. Replacement sheeting shall be 1/2 " grade DCX Douglas Fir plywood, nailed in accordance with industry standards. Contractor shall be paid the unit price based on actual sheets placed. Any sheeting removed and replaced without approval of the Designated Contact or his designee shall be considered to be for contractor convenience and no payment to Contractor shall occur. 2. Asphaltshingle roofing shall be 4-Tab shingles(include ridge cap at allridge lines of existing structures)or a comparable alternate. Colorshallbe similartoexisting,250pounds/square (10 yr algae resistance and 10 yr 110 MPH wind). 3. Roof underlaymentshallbe felt orsynthetic and shall be fastened and installed asspecified by shingle manufacturer. 4. Roof edge shall be aluminum. Color shall be similar to existing, 0.019 gauge thickness, or comparable equivalent. 5. Install polymer-modified bitumen ice and water protector to protect vulnerable areas on roof from ice and water damage. 6. All protrusions and walls shall be flash, along with items roof mounted. 7. Eve and soffit repair to match existing. 8. Install new 1- 1/2 " aluminum drip edge along perimeter.
