New construction, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Irondale, Alabama. Working plans call for the addition of a 26,850-square-foot, three-story above grade fire / police facility; for the construction of a fire / police facility; for the renovation of a 24,000-square-foot, three-story above grade fire / police facility; municipal facility; and municipal facility.
Project scope includes but is not limited to, selective demolition (to structure) of a 3-story, 24,000 SF building to remain (formerly the Marks Fitzgerald building); full demolition of two additional buildings and existing site work; complete renovation to as-new construction for the 3-story building to remain; new construction of a 26,000 SF addition, to include a structural steel frame, masonry/precast concrete cladding, curtainwall glazing system, and high-level interior finishes. The Project will include all-new site grading, paving, landscaping, and other related work. TIMELINE: As of September 2, 2026, the project is in redesign stage. Information regarding architect has not been disclosed. A firm timeline for release for rebid has not been announced.
