Demolition, site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Jacksonville, Florida. Design plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
As of August 22, 2025, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design phase. It is anticipated construction will start in 2027 and end in 2029. Engineer firm information has not been determined. Project #: 448853-1-22-01 The project is located on SR 13 (San Jose Boulevard) in the City of Jacksonville adjacent to the St. Johns River. The existing single-span bridge has been deemed "structurally deficient" and FDOT is proposing to replace the existing bridge. Proposed Bridge Typical Section - The proposed project consists of a single-span bridge measuring 48 feet in length and 96 feet in width. The proposed typical section will contain: Four 11- to 13.5-foot travel lanes One 10.5-foot left-turn lane in the southbound direction Two 5-foot bicycle lanes Two 6-foot sidewalks The project is included in the State's 2025 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
