Question Deadline 09/05/2025 Questions received less than four (4) days before bid opening cannot be answered. The project consists of a lighting upgrade at City High School in the Opstad Auditorium in Iowa City, IA. The lighting upgrade includes performance lighting and house lighting. The upgrade will include all new controls, relay panels, lighting instruments and associated cabling. Submit all questions to the Design Professional, in writing. Replies will be issued to all prime bidders of record as addenda to the documents and will become part of the contract. The Design Professional and Owner will not be responsible for oral clarification. Questions received less than four (4) days before bid opening cannot be answered. Bids must be accompanied by a bid bond or certified check in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the maximum value of the bid, including add alternates. Bid security of the three lowest bidders in each category will be retained until contract is awarded or until thirty (30) days after the opening, whichever is shorter. Bid security of all other bidders will be returned promptly after bids are opened and read. If any bidder fails, refuses or neglects to enter into a contract, or provide satisfactory surety bond, the Owner will retain his bid security as liquidated damages, but not as a nenalty. Bid security shall be made payable to the order of: lowa City Community School District. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after the bid opening. Bids may not be modified after submittal. Bids may be withdrawn at any time prior to bid opening, but may not be resubmitted. Each bidder shall be prepared, if so requested by the Owner, to present evidence of his experience, qualifications, and financial responsibility to carry out the terms of the contract. Not withstanding any delay in preparation and execution of the formal contract agreement, each bidder shall be prepared, upon written notice of bid acceptance, to commence work within fourteen (14) days following receipt of official written orders of the Owner to proceed, or on date stipulated in such order. All bidders shall take into account the Owner's desire that construction be substantially complete on or before March 20th, 2026. Event Bid Description: Bidders shall submit bids in a sealed, opaque envelope, in accordance with the advertisement for Bids. Submit bid security in a separate envelope. b. The Owner reserves the right to disqualify bids, before or after opening, upon evidence of collusion with intent to defraud or other illegal practices upon the part of the bidder. vThe Owner reserves the right to accept any bid, in accordance with Code of Iowa, to reject any bid on the basis of bid irregularity or to waive irregularities.
