Reference Number 0000396772 Bids are requested for a one-year term contract with two, one-year renewal options for snowplowing services, as per the specifications contained herein. 1. The plowing of snow into the street and the spreading of snow within the streets is prohibited. 2 Snow plowed from driveways and sidewalks should only be deposited on the parkway of the property from which it was removed. 3. Snow may not be plowed or otherwise deposited onto private property unless permission is first obtained from the property owners. 4. Contractors may not obstruct fire hydrants or mailboxes with snow plowed from driveways and sidewalks. 5. In distributing piles or banks of snow, contractors may not create any visual obstruction which would impair same use of streets and sidewalks. 6. In traveling over sidewalks, the operator shall avoid traveling over unplowed sidewalks by entering and leaving the sidewalk at driveways or other reasonable means which may be available for travel. * Subsequently each year on October 1, all Contractors shall submit a valid and current license and insurances to Purchasing. Please refer to "Snowplow Business License Application Information" attachment. Payment Schedule: Prorated plowing (Payment Schedule II) shall assume that the average snowfall per snow season is 72 inches and, further, that the normal maximum individual snowfall within a 24-hour period is 8 inches or less. However, should the total snowfall be any amount less than two-thirds of the normal 72 inches (i.e., 48 inches), the Contractor shall be paid only two-thirds of the total base bid amount. If the total snowfall exceeds the two-thirds (48 inches) amount but is less than the normal amount (72 inches), the Contractor shall be paid an amount pro-rated between 48 inch and 72-inch figures based on the actual snowfall. The National Weather Service records shall be used to determine the snowfall amount and/or WOOD TV8 (whichever is higher for the City of Grand Rapids).
