Sealed proposals for Full Depth Asphalt Replacement services may be submitted as outlined below. Dove street is (18) eighteen feet wide and will need to be widened by (1) one foot on both sides of street. Making Dove Street (20) twenty feet wide after completion. The successful bidder shall provide services as outlined in this document for the City of Newton. The City reserves the right to add, delete and/or modify the job specifications pending discoveries during work and/or available funds and current needs. It shall be the responsibility of the sender to confirm receipt by the City. The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, supervision, sub-trade costs, tools, barriers, equipment, cleanup, rentals, transportation, and any other items necessary to perform the work described herein. This includes all material costs, sales tax, and any applicable federal, state, or local taxes and fees. All work shall be performed in a professional and timely manner. This project will consist of a ten-inch (10") full-depth asphalt replacement on Dove Street. The existing roadway width is eighteen feet (18'); the Contractor shall widen the street by one foot (1') on each side, resulting in a final width of twenty feet (20') upon completion. Base Bid - Dove Street: (See Exhibit B Map) a) Asphalt Replacement: Remove and haul off approximately 8,400 SY of existing asphalt. Install new pavement consisting of: o Six-inch (6") CABC o Two-inch (2") minimum Binder (I19.0C) o Two-inch (2") minimum Surface (S9.5C) Finished elevation shall match existing elevations. b) Stabilization Fabric: Install geotextile stabilization fabric.(NCDOT Approved Stabilization Fabric) c) Pavement Markings: Install thermoplastic striping, including four-inch (4") double yellow centerline and four-inch (4") white edge lines. d) Valve Boxes: Adjust all valve boxes to grade as needed. Adjustments shall be considered incidental. If replacement is required, the City will provide valve boxes (materials only). e) Mailbox Handling: o Carefully remove all existing mailboxes within the project limits as needed to perform the work. o Reinstall mailboxes in their original locations or as directed by the City of Newton Public Works Director or their authorized representative. o Mailbox configurations include: o Single-box installations on individual posts. o Two-box installations on shared posts. o One cluster installation of seven (7) boxes on two (2) shared posts. o Reinstalled mailboxes shall be equal to or better than original condition, meeting USPS regulations for height, alignment, and stability. o Any mailbox or post damaged by the Contractor shall be replaced in kind at no additional cost to the City. f) Driveway Aprons: o Sawcut and replace all asphalt and concrete driveway aprons to full depth to match the new street section. o The project includes fourteen (14) asphalt aprons and eight (8) concrete aprons. o Where mailbox assemblies are located within driveway aprons, affected concrete or asphalt shall be replaced as part of the apron repair. o Several driveway aprons include asphalt curbs. If any of these curbs are damaged during construction, they must be replaced at the contractor's expense. g) Traffic Control: o Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining traffic control throughout the duration of the project and shall ensure all side streets and driveways are open before the close of each workday. h) Restoration: o Restore the project site to its original condition or better upon completion of work. i) Disposal: o Dispose of all materials in compliance with applicable City, County, State, and Federal regulations.
