Renovation of a fire / police facility in Ottawa, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) requires a Contractor to correct Building Code and Fire Code deficiencies at TPOF in Ottawa, ON. Documents may be obtained from the Government of Canada Website at: https://canadabuys.canada.ca/en/tender-opportunities This section of the Work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: .1 Demolition, removal completely from site, and disposal of all identified components, materials, equipment, and debris. .2 Selective demolition to allow new walls, bulkheads, ceilings, and other materials to meet existing construction as indicated. .3 All material from demolition shall be removed from site immediately with no salvage, selling, sorting, or burning permitted on site. .4 Retain items indicated on drawings for re use in new construction. .1 Regulatory Requirements: .1 Lumber Grades: Provide lumber products that are all sides finished (S4S) in nominal dimensions required for the project; grade-marked by accredited agencies of the Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board and that conform to National Grading Rules published by the NLGA. .1 Grading: Machine Grading, Visual Grading, or Both. .2 Moisture Content: Kiln Dry, 19% or less. .3 Structural Design Properties: Strength and related properties in accordance with CSA O86. .4 Sizes: Nominal dressed dimensions described in CSA O141 for surfaced dry conditions and wood species. .2 Panel Grades: Provide panel products that are grade-marked by agencies recognized by CSA O325 and National Institute of Standards and Technology, Voluntary Product Standard PS 2 04 Performance Standard for Wood-Based Structural-Use Panels as modified by other listed CSA panel standards. This Section specifies requirements for selective demolition and removal of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, controls and automated automation components, and related mechanical components and incidentals required to complete work described in this Section. The entire wiring network does not appear on the drawings. The Contractor must provide and install all required wiring for the works described in the plans and specifications, following the applicable electrical code. The Contractor shall calculate the voltage losses of the remote circuits and adjust the cable gauge accordingly. .1 The work described in this estimate and indicated on the plans includes labour, tools and all the equipment and accessories necessary to carry out the installation, connection and complete operation of the new or modified or relocated components of the fire alarm system. .2 The work described in this specification consists of, but is not limited to, the following: - Demolition of the existing components indicated on the demolition plans (ducts, wiring, equipment, etc.) and connected to the existing fire alarm system. - Relocation of existing components (ducts, wiring, equipment, etc.), as indicated on the demolition and electrical plans. Connection to the existing fire alarm system. - Supply, installation, and connection of all the new fire detection components indicated on the plans or necessary for the operation of the components indicated in the plans (detectors, manual stations, audible and visual alarms, wiring, fire alarm modules, relays, etc.). Connection to the existing fire alarm system, including all of the necessary additional modules, power supply and backup batteries in order to provide a complete system. - The supply and complete installation of a new network of conduits and metal boxes for the connection of all of the new or relocated equipment to the existing fire alarm system. - Supply, installation and connection of new or relocated flow switches, high- and low-pressure switches as well as valve monitoring of the sprinkler network. When necessary, also connect the supervision points of the fire pump control panel. The works required to complete all sprinkler system connections must be included and a sprinkler inspection report must be provided by an authorized contractor. - Reconfiguration and programming of the fire alarm system and the startup of the system. - Complete inspection and verification of the fire alarm system by the system manufacturer in accordance with current codes and standards. - The provision of the complete verification report of all of the new or modified components and the certificate of conformity of the system, free of remarks and comments. - The supply and installation of a power supply for each of the equipment that require it. - The supply and installation of a red lock on the handle of every new circuit breaker used to supply the components of the fire alarm system. The top of the circuit breaker handle must also be neatly painted red the lock must prevent the circuit breaker from being placed in the "OFF" position, but must be installed in such a way as to allow the circuit breaker to operate in an overcurrent condition. The locks are available from the various manufacturers of electrical panels. In the case of fuse panels, locks are not required. - Repair of all walls, ceilings, floors and any other surfaces damaged during the works. These repairs must include touch-ups of paint (2 coats) identical to the colors of the existing one. The Contractor must mandate a qualified subcontractor to perform this work. .1 The Contractor shall provide, transport, dismantle, relocate, install and connect all of the equipment, materials and accessories specified in the plans and specifications, including but , not limited to: - Any necessary modification to the existing power supply and distribution network 120/208V, 120/240 and/or 347/600V, including electrical input, if necessary. - Electrical grounding including grounding electrodes. - Interior and exterior lighting of the building. - Accumulators and emergency lighting fixtures. - Lighting controls, relays, contactors, timers, photocells, etc. - Indoor and outdoor electrical outlets in the building. - Power supply and connection of building mechanical loads and their controls. - Safety switches and starters. - Heaters and their controls. - Conduits and conductors. - The telecommunication system including network conduits and cabling. - The fire alarm system including the duct and wiring network. - The intrusion alarm system including the network of ducts and wiring. - The intercom system including the network of conduits and wiring. - Identification labels to identify all components of the systems provided by the contractor and as indicated in the plans and specifications. - The 19 mm thick plywood fastening panels required for the mounting of electrical equipment including two (2) coats of fireproof paint on the exposed surface of the plywood. - The supports and all structural steel elements required to support the conduits, cables, appliances and equipment. - The dismantling, relocation and/or modification of the equipment shown in the plans. - Temporary power for the construction site during construction (lighting, services, power, etc.) and heating for winter work. .2 The Contractor shall perform all required testing and commissioning of the systems. .3 The Contractor must repair all walls, ceilings, floors and any other surfaces damaged during the work. These repairs must include touch-ups of paint (2 coats) identical to the colors of the existing one. The Contractor must mandate a qualified subcontractor to perform this work. .4 The Contractor must coordinate with the other disciplines. o Determine the exact location of electrical equipment on site according to the final layout plans. o Work closely with other disciplines to determine the exact characteristics of systems and provide all appropriate facilities, equipment and connections to make them operational, all in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. .5 The Contractor must coordinate with the various stakeholders such as utilities suppliers, carriers, manufacturers, etc.
